Time's Up. I am getting out of here.

I have lived here for almost 5 years now. When I moved in, the complex was well maintained, and with a friendly, helpful staff. Maintenance issues were taken care of promptly. The management cared for the residents and there were hardly any problems with neither neighbors nor dog crap anywhere.
Then came a new managemeng last year with new office staff. Obviously, they don't know what customer service is. Office staff is rude and not helpful. One time this spring, I overheard a brawl in the office. A guy had come in and asked if they could make sure the washers and driers in one of the laundry rooms could be fixed, and if he could get his money refunded as he had paid for the use, but the washer/driers did not work. Then this blonde lady exploded and told this guy to get out of her face as Archstone did not have anything to do with the washers and driers (It was run by a different company). I did not hear all that was said, but this lady was screaming and yelling and told this poor guy that if he did not get out, she would call the sheriff. Then another dark haired lady (name is Vara, Lara or something like that) also started yelling that if he did not get out of the office, they would call the sheriff. Short time after he left. Washers and driers are often out of service, and nobody cares. And I guess if you care like this guy did, the sheriff will come and get you.
This attitude is typical for most of the people working at the office. But the maintenance staff isn't much better. I had problems with a dishwasher that did not do its job. But I was told that "dishwasher work fine, no problem" and that I must remember to rinse of the dishes (which I always do). The dishwasher is probably worn out, but the staff don't care. They treat you like an idiot until you don't care anymore, that seems to be the way they solve the maintenance issues.
And the grounds have become filthy. With dog ----. There are a lot of people here with dogs, and they have not been assigned an area for airing their dogs so they go every where. Their favorite spot seems to be outside my apartment. During a day there are 3-6 dogs shitting on the lawn. Most owners pick it up, but not all.
In the last year I have also noticed that trash is not picked up in a timely manner. Trash containers have been overflowing and stinks. Just wonder how many rats have moved to Archstone Walnut Creek the last year.
In my hallway, one of the lights are out. I have told the maintenance crew long time ago about it (using their website/online resident service). But they don't care if somebody gets mugged, they don't live here, right'
For me time's up. I am getting out of here as soon as my lease is up. I am tired of a rude office staff, a careless management and a maintenance crew that gives a crap.

As a former employee and knowing who you are talking about I think that you might have missed something...I had to actually call the sheriff on someone after I towed thier car and they came in and got threatening. You also have to realize that the people in the office - if they want to keep thier job - have to do what corporate says. If corporate says you are over budget (which happened - they need to up the funding) than you can not get a new dishwasher. I know it is unfair and it is wrong but to blame the messengers is not okay...those girls in the office do the best they can while being threatened on a almost daily basis for standing up for the residents - and being told by upper management to not say this and only say that...all this while being shrot staffed...They really need a small army in there...I know that at least one of those girls is not there and for good reason - she was too good to be working there...so give the girls a break - they're doing their job and doing it the best they can... but I agree - don't move here...parking is bad and it is not the safest area...

The office staff is NOT doing their job the best they can. If they truly are doing the best they can, then Archstone needs to have stricter hiring guidelines and not a paint by numbers job application.
