I live on the opposite side of the complex from the BART station, but I still hear the train as it approaches and leaves the station. From where I live, I don't find it annoying or distracting... but perhaps it is a greater challenge if you live on the end of the property next to the station.

you can barely hear it really....its no different than cars on the street...Im not that far from the train and I dont notice it...
