Pretty Decent Living compared to the competition.

I lived at Archstone throughout a year lease in one of their 3rd floor one bedroom apartments. Having lived in apartments throughout the Contra Costa area, I have to say this was one of the best options I found. Admittedly, it's pricier than anything you're going to find on Creekside- but it's well worth the money to be away from the chronic noise and other complaints (cops frequently being there, the brothel a block a way, etc.). In addition, it was nice to find a place that would take two cats. Finding that was harder than one might think.
They do try to take care of problems as they arise- when someone was breaking into cars, they immediately hired a security company. They also are quick to tow people out of reserved spots when you call. However, if you call after hours, and only speak English- you might have a slight difficulty getting your point across to the after hours staff.
One thing I know has been a problem for Archstone was that their previous contractors for construction work wasn't doing their jobs properly. When the problem came to light, the firm was immediately removed, and they were careful to check for problems that might have been left from the shoddy work.
All in all, it is a nice apartment complex- but you do have to be willing to live in an apartment. It's not going to be as private as a house, or as quiet as a more spread out living arrangement. Parking will always be somewhat of a problem- apartments aren't usually built to anticipate how much more the future generations will rely on vehicles.
The staff was always polite, and usually very quick to try and correct any problem that I had. If they couldn't correct it on the spot, they were careful to get back to me as soon as possible with the information about what needed to be done, and why there was a delay.
