Great value for location

I'm going on 1.5 years in my apt. at Carmel House, and I'm still happy with my place. The rent might seem high considering the age of the apartment complex, and the condition of some of the units rented by long-term tenants; but for the location it's still a fantastic value. Zia was still the manager when I first moved in, but he and his wife have since been replaced with a more professional management team. It still takes more time than I'd like to get repairs made, especially if the requested repairs are not "emergencies" or at least urgent situations. As far as I can tell, the buildings weren't built with the best or most expensive materials back in the day, but from what I've seen, the new management team has been doing great work updating apartments as they become available. If I didn't want to deal with the hassle of moving, or risk an increase in rent, I'd switch to a different apartment.
Word of warning: if you're sensitive to background noise, this place will drive you batty. I fall asleep every night to the sound of my downstairs neighbor's snoring and wake up to his booming voice and crying baby. It could be worse, though. Next door used to be a very passionate couple who were always fighting or "making up" loud enough for me to always know exactly what was going on.
