The only good thing that came out of this apartment complex was when we were finally able to leave it. With a pitiful wall heater, poor ventilation, mold growing everywhere, no dishwasher, and a toilet that, shall we say, was crappy, the formerly known Colony Surf was a nightmare come true.

It is a miracle that they decided to repaint the exterior and put up rod iron fencing around the perimeter. At the same time that they did that, they changed the name of the complex, so that people would possibly forget the eyesore this complex was. We continue to drive by this complex from time to time and have noted that not much has changed. Too bad that the landscaping is still dirt (with weeds and some attempts at grass trying to grow). Oh, shall we also include the lovely state of the swimming pool, and the fact that Contra Costa County had to close it down for a while due to the unsanitary conditions of it (including the dead rat at the bottom of the pool)' And please, do not get me started on the condition of the laundry room. Let's just say that you might as well use one's own toilet to wash laundry instead of the facilities provided.

It took the site manager 3 months to fix our oven (which bless his heart, he finally took the part from his own oven because the owner would not provide him the necessary part), which gave us a wonderful opportunity to learn how to cook by microwave oven. If it comes to a choice between renting here and being homeless, I hear that the homeless shelters are better than Colony Surf.
