Not bad at all

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I moved to Park Regency about a year and a half ago. I wasn't stupid about it, my wife and I did our research online and looked at a lot of apartments in the area. We ended up at Park Regency because it was the best bang for our buck, and it impressed us each time we went in (we went there twice before actually making a decision).
I have to admit, I went to this website during our research phase. I was scared of what would happen if we moved to Park Regency because of all the negative things that were said at this website. We took our chances because, after all, it's Walnut Creek. How bad can Walnut Creek really be' We've moved around a lot because I'm in the military. We've lived in a lot of great places and a lot of crappy places. Park Regency isn't one of those crappy places.
The complex is very well-kept. They have a great maintenance crew here; they usually fix my stuff within a day. I like that everyone is very friendly. There are so many maintenance workers here (maybe 30'). The place looks amazing every day.
I don't hear as much noise as what I see posted on this website. Yes, I do hear the people above me when they walk heavily (usually before they go to sleep or when they wake up in the morning), but other than that, I have to say it's very quiet. It's a wonder how they keep the noise down so much with so many people living here. It's like a small city. Some nights when I walk out to 7-Eleven to get a gallon of milk or something (BTW 7-Eleven is a godsend), I see a bunch of people out walking their dogs or walking with their babies in strollers. It makes it feel so homey. Like the neighborhood I grew up in. A few kids riding their bikes, friends hanging out by the pool... it's a nice atmosphere.
They've got a really good security guard here. He's so friendly, talks to everyone, and knows almost everyone by name. Why would that be a bad thing' Some people complain about everything, but I won't go much more into that.
I commute in and out on the BART, it's so convenient that it's right there across the street. What's even more amazing is that I can barely hear the train when it comes by. BART's not that noisy to begin with, but I think that since they built that new parking garage, the noise has come down quite a bit.
I guess the worst thing I could say about this place is that parking is hard to come by if you have guests. They are better off parking outside of the gates on the street. There are so many people who live here (and since most couples/families have a car for every one person these days) so extra parking is so hard to come by most nights. I have 2 reserved spots, but my wife and I each have a car, so sometimes I park somewhere else if I'm expecting guests.
I was pissed about 6 months ago because my car got broken into. Damn thieves took my laptop and an iPod. There wasn't anything that the management could do to help me except refer me to my insurance carrier. They recommended that I not leave valuables out in the open, but they really didn't have to tell me that because I already learned that when I discovered my stuff was missing. The guy in the office said that if I left my laptop in the car at the mall, someone would've broken into my car there too. I thought the response wasn't very sympathetic, but very true nonetheless. I leave my car seats empty and my glove compartment open these days.
All-in-all, I think this is a great community to live in. I like the gym, I like my neighbors, I like being right across the street from the BART station. I have no reason to move out (yet). When the military moves me, I'd be lucky if my next apartment is half as good as Park Regency.
