My time at this place was overall horrible.

We moved in and the door to the building was slamming against the window in the dinning room area. This was attempted to be fixed with things such as sticking a traffic cone in the door. (The security doors that were seldomly locked.) The railing on the deck was falling down. The floor in the bathrooms was peeling up.

People moved upstairs and had noisy parties three or four nights a week - but we were constantly given complaints about our dog barking at squirrels or the neighbors jack russell.

All of the other general information posted here seems eerily familiar. Our car was broken into and stuff was stolen (to which the office said it wasn't their problem.) The gates were always broken. There was always people drinking in the hot tub at all hours of the night... Drug deals in the parking lot a few nights. The things I generally grew acustomed to in NJ. And yes, the smells... I loathed having to enter the hallsways because of the smells. I don't know if it was dead animals in the walls or what. And then there was the random bills with bizzare calculations (if any were given).

The real nightmare was about the 10th month there... (this is just a brief overview of the experience):
We got one notice to "Pay or Quit" and we paid... i went to the office several times and checked if we were running late on our rent - a few weeks later, the Sheriff arrives to escort us out.

I finally contacted a helpful attourney while i was living out of the car - it seems someone filed a response to a court notice that I never recieved. I can really only ASSUME who forged my signature on a legal court document - so I won't make any statements, but because I was given a court date but never received the information from the court (because an alternate address was also filed) I was evicted from the apartment. When we left, they told us we could only take what we could carry and the sherrif and management told us to leave our dogs until we could get them.

The next day, we get a call from Animal Control that they are going to take our dogs because we abandoned them - but they could tell by the dogs' appearence they were not neglected and called us. When we arrived at the apartment, the police told us the management said they tried to enter the apartment and were afraid of the dogs (they had no right to enter and go through our belongings)

A few weeks later, we receive a bill for $7,000.00

This has never gone to collections or appeared on a credit report - I can only assume because they also know this bill was not legitimate.

My life was severely disturbed because of these illegal practices. (Not to mention having to live in a car and a motel 6 until we got a new place)

In my opinion, you are better off living under the bridge with the homeless people then trying to live at this place.

OMG! This sounds absolutely awful. I looked at this place during my apartment hunt but was disturbed when I saw all of the garbage just laying around in the halls. Thank God I guess. I just wanted to wish you luck if your lawsuit is not over yet. Sue the living ---- out of these people, this is outrageous. Even your poor dogs!!! I cannot even begin to imagine what would have happened if animal control would have actually taken them. How scary, I am so sorry.

I'd love to hear the other side of that story

I would like to hear the other side too... especially since so many people have the same or similar story... and it is on my credit report now, somehow, but fortunately I'm in a better position to actually hire an attorney.
