The one that got away!

I am not a tenant, I came close, too close! I experienced the bait and switch on the rent, move in date, unit location, but I was going to go ahead and rent anyway. Until I read the reviews. On a Friday, I found an add on Craig's List for an executive studio for $1195 a month. I called right away and asked which unit this add was for, and if a move in date 3 weeks away was ok. Sheila told me which unit, and said a move in date in 3 weeks was ok for this unit, so I told her I would be right in the next morning. When I got there, Saturday morning, a 3 week move in date was not ok for this unit and the rent was really $1240. I went ahead and put down a deposit, and money for the credit check. They called me that Tuesday and told me the rent was now $1360. It has nothing to do with my credit, or income, I make over 100k and my credit score is 749. They raised the rent even after I gave them $150 to hold the place. Shannon said she was sorry for the confusion and offered me the apartment for $1240, not the $1195 that was listed on Craig's list. And not the unit that I had been told would be available, but some other unit on the bottom floor. After reading all the other reviews, I'm glad I got away! Someone should call the DA and report these guys!
