Not worth it!

All I can say is, I cannot wait to get out of this place, and I haven't even been here 4 months. It has been nightmare after nightmare since I moved in here. First off, A FIRE. Luckily, I was home early from work or else my cat would be dead. The worst part was, they didn't bother to contact any tenants who WERE at work. They said they couldn't get anyone's numbers because of smoke and water damage in the office-well, my things were destroyed by smoke and water damage and they didn't bother to pro-rate any rent for the 4 days I couldn't live there due to the smoke smell. Oh yeah, not to mention NOT ONE fire alarm or in unit smoke detector worked.
Now lets move on to parking. Yes, as many people have mentioned, there is absolutely no on-street parking. And when you DO find a decent spot, people cuss you out and try to follow you to your apartment. NOT COOL for a female like myself. It's also not cool having to park downtown and walk up the hill by yourself after dark (there aren't a lot of street lights going up the hill, but a lot of good hiding places). Let me mention the assigned parking. TOO SMALL for even a COMPACT car! I have a 2 door compact car. I have to BACK IN and park ON THE LINE in order to be able to squeeze in and out of my car. My car now has dents due to the dummy who constantly parked over the line and didn't care whether or not if he hit my property. By the way, I've looked up California law. The assigned parking spots are almost 2 feet smaller then they should be. Yes, that's how small they are.
Noises. LOUD LOUD LOUD! We have a neighbor who likes to party like it's 1999 every week night-until well after 2am. We've called security (a couple of times). We've called the police (NUMEROUS times). We've mentioned it to the office staff (almost every time). These people are still here. They simply get a warning for the night. They quiet down until the following evening and it starts all over again.
We've had our cars broken into right out front when we were lucky enough to find a decent spot on the street (do not keep any valuables in your car-even hidden). You can hear people simply walking down the hallway on another floor. We hear the people above us arguing, having sex, washing dishes, flush their toilet, and yes, sorry to say I can even hear my neighbors simply fart. That's how thin these walls are.
If you move in, I hope you have a landline. Cell phones do not work unless you walk out toward the street. And when I have to call maintenance, he talks on his cell phone (in Spanish), about how I'm a stupid girl who can't fix anything. First off, I understand Spanish, and second, it's his job. I'm not doing it for him.
I would rather spend twice the money and go to a laundromat then the do the laundry here (yes, you have to pay to do your laundry even though you pay for water, but they don't tell you that). Keep in mind, there are probably at least 40 other tenants in the area of one laundry room. It just so happens that no matter WHEN you want to do laundry (in the middle of the day during the week, Friday after work, Sunday morning...), everyone else is also trying to do laundry. And people like to just leave their clothes in the dryer for hours before coming to get them, as if no one else needs to dry their clothes. And if you decide to take the clothes out of the dryer for them so you can dry yours, they get pissed if they walk in while you're doing it.
And to just be frank, I honestly do not feel safe here. I am currently looking for some place else to live and plan to be out of here in November. Merry Christmas to me!

Dayyyum! I came *this* close to putting in an application at Whispering Oaks once I saw the gorgeous fountains and room interiors. Luckily, I was scared off by all the horrendous reviews I read. I'm amazed there was yet another fire there!

Funny but this post is a lie- I lived there during the fire- the people in the office did more than they should have had to to ensure everyones quick exit. They did not give away free rent but they also did not start the fire. Maybe you should have insured your belongings, as they ask each person to do when they move in. By the way, the fire was caused by an idiot resident. People who stretch the truth really annoy me.
