Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
Safe and attractive building, overall friendly management/concierge and responsive repairman. Nice to have the folks manning the front desk downstairs to accept packages, let service people in the apartment when you're out, etc. Also nice to have a small fitness center onsite (plus a park and a 24 hour fitness nearby) and to be able to do laundry 24/7 (though it seems like everyone chooses to use it at the same time, and it's seemingly always a race to the machines). The repairman was great, very capable and responsive. But the apartments are VERY overpriced. A couple of tenants have been there for awhile, but there is tons of tenant turnover. Because it is a fairly large complex, management is rigid/scrupulous when it comes to lease terms, renewals, move in and out inspections (at least it's a small deposit, but note everything when you move in!), etc. Also, the building looks nice but it is really an old building with a facial makeover -- doesn't seem to be great structurally (i.e. had many problems needing fixing). Plus, obviously, Westwood sucks! Very sterile feeling, not much character. Overall, not worth the money -- there are plenty of better and more affordable options throughout LA (and even around there in West LA/Westwood).
