Depends on your luck -- like with any apartment

To begin, I want to say that I'm a law student, and I need lots of quiet time to study for finals, outline, etc. I hate loud neighbors, and I do not tolerate intrusiveness. With that said, I have loved living at the Avalon. My apartment is very clean. Some of the previous postings have said that there is mold in the apartments. This is true, but only if you don't clean it or have them clean it for you when it appears. As soon as I see any indication of mold, I call maintenance right away and they clean it that day with heavy bleach solutions. I have only had 2 entries by the staff for preventive checks, but both are required by CA law so that's understandable; plus, they are very quick about the checks -- in and out just to check on whatever it is that they need to check out. The staff is very nice so long as you are nice to them back, as would be expected by any normal person. And one thing that I think needs to be said is that when you are deciding whether or not to live here, you can dictate which apartment building to live in and which floor -- so if you hate it when people stomp their feet, pick the top floor. You also have a month or so to change apartments once you move in if you find the apartment you're assigned intolerable for any reason, be it noisy neighbors or whatever - no questions asked. You control your destiny here. I find the Avalon to be very nice, and I have lived all over the US in various apartments (including some which were much more expensive and in significantly poorer condition than the Avalon). And remember, the Avalon is an apartment building. If you don't want other people's children around or noise from rooms around you, get or rent a house.

The only negative thing is that there is very little parking for guests. So your guests will either have to fight for one of the 10 guest parking spots or park on Ventura (which requires a small uphill hike).
