We were promised a "newly refurbished" unit. What they never disclosed to us was that every other unit around us was going to be under construction after we moved in. Upon move in, we gave them a list of over 15 things that needed to be fixed and made an appointment to have them taken care of (Avalon uses the "3 hour block" system for appointments). We waited at the apartment from 30 minutes before our "3 hour block" until 15 minutes after it ended. When we called the office, we were told that they were "just about to call [us]" to reschedule for the next day. There was no explanation as to "why" we weren't called BEFORE our appointment time. The "Customer Service Manager" was not only rude and condescending, but she didn't seem to care that we weren't pleased. Forgetting the fact that they never assigned us parking spaces for a week after we moved in, we took advantage of Avalon's "30 Day Guarantee", gave notice, and moved out. In our 30 Day Notice, we clearly requested to be present for our final walk through which we scheduled for the last of our 30 days. They said nobody was available and we had to insist that we be present for the walk through that day as scheduled. The same rude, condescending Customer Service Manager did our walk through and began screaming at us about all of the things wrong with the apartment. We had to remind her that these were problems that existed BEFORE WE MOVED IN.
It's funny that since we moved out, we have met other people who have lived in Avalon Communities who have also had horror stories about the properties and the staff.
Be smart- STAY AWAY FROM AVALON!!! SEk1KnECheF1ATXbXtrZ

I agree. My wife and I moved out of there 2 months after we moved in. The apartments are small, the staff is rude, and the complex feels like a concentration camp!

This is a LONG standing problem with that property. THe staff, as far back as 2000, has been awful. It's a mill there. The staff are immature, arrogant, as if they make good money even!! I know for a fact, they're pay rate does not warrant their attitute. throw it in thier face, how low paid they are and yet think they are so above everyone! The country gal controller is a passive agrresive wimp. Everyone who has ever lived there has something bad to say and that's why they got suit and had to pay out on a class action law suit against them. It is VERY true.

I'd have to agree with how rude the staff is! I moved out a few weeks ago and I must say how thrilled I am to get away!!! it looks lovely and upscale from the outside driving by along Ventura..but holysh** it was all an illusion! Building 10 had druggies and was using up building electricity which was not taken care of until months after, I think they were taken away by police or something. They dont do anything when a complaint is called to their attention, this place sucks and Im glad I moved out!!
