AS BETTE DAVIS WOULD SAY - WHAT A DUMP!

Years at this apartment: 1994 - 2003
Put this in your pipe and smoke it. I moved into the dump (outside decieving, isn't it') in 1994, after the earthquake. After that, the complex went into bankruptcy three times and was "picked up" by four different management companies. Each time, of course, you had to change your cable provider, as you had no choice.
In 2001, on Martin Luther King Day (a weekend holiday), the water heater above me (Bldg. #7-214 my unit) exploded and leaked all over my apartment (water travels a lot faster than management) and I called emergency maintenance. Three days later, with carpets totally soaked, my daughter and I shivering our timbers from the dampness, I finally got ahold of Greg Garmon (greg_garmon@aimco.com) and Annette Stark (we'll get to that two-faced ----- in a bit), told them that there was absolutely NO EXCUSE for leaving me with conditions like that for three days. I had approximately $3,000 worth of damage plus mold and they told me to tell my renter's insurance broker. Broker this - it was entirely the fault of the (lack of) management to whom I finally blew my stack. (BTW, my 96-yr. old father lived in #4-118 and kept hearing noises in the walls - RATS' - I think so.) Suffice to say that I was never reimbursed for my losses.
Also with the ridiculous water-saving toilets they had put in, if you used toilet paper, the toilet would clog, thus having to call maintenance. I finally DEMANDED to have the toilets changed and I got one in a two-bedroom apartment.
At the beginning of my tenure, we had a maintenance man who oversaw the nimrods and things were as sharp as a ---- Goosestep - you called, they came, it was fixed. Being no fool, he opened his own business, took the best maintenance man and got out of Dodge.
When my father's and my leases ran out at the end of July, 2002, I emailed written notice that we would go month-to-month and planned to leave. I also left three messages on Annette Starks voice mail. Guys, don't ever let them know you're leaving - you think it's bad when you're there' What do they care if you're leaving'
Meanwhile, Annette had me doing free legal work for her deadbeat ex-husband who had more felonies than John Gotti, because I was permanently disabled from an accident and could no longer work. I could, however, pay both rents. When my Dad and I found a home to lease, we gave notice, packed and left: we also left the complex our two refrigerators, Panasonic Microwave, glass table and chairs, etc. knowing that the boyz in the hood could use them when and IF they came to clean.
And, speaking of clean - never in ten years, throughout which we yearly received rent increases and signed leases anyway - the two units were NEVER PAINTED and I had to pay for the carpet cleaning every six months for ten years in two apartments.
Oh - I was told I was in the "safe" building and was attacked in the garage one night...which wouldn't have been so bad if, during the ten years, three expensive cars hadn't been stolen.
My father had rats and ants and I had a migraine. Two weeks after we left (never asking for security deposits to be returned), WCA SUED US for carpet, dirty walls, yada, yada, yada. And, Kim can kiss my rosy red.....she has the demeanor and personality of a snake. And she speak with forked tongue. You can tell she's lying if her lips are moving. All of the semi-intelligent rental agents were lovely...but, of course, they didn't stay more than ten minutes.
My personal feeling is that they can take their cookies and stick 'em where the sun don't shine.
