Only getting a facelift, complex needs a remodel

I was first happy to hear that Warner Center was spending 25 million dollars to improve my apartment complex. However, I assumed that some of the 25 million would actually go to improving the apartments themselves. The complex does have a new paint job (great if you favorite color is brown) and is getting some new lights. The main office is getting redone in faux stone and is the most improved of course. But what about the apartments' Are they going to fix the noisy airconditioners' What about the cheap carpets' How about the security situation' Apparently, they are only interested in spending money where it shows, not where it counts.
If you want to spend close to half a million to buy one of these apartments, then realize that you are really buying a spruced up apartment, in a complex that is gargantuan (1200 units). Don't be fooled by their tricks.
For my family, we could either move out or buy the apartment. From what I could tell from my neighbors, most of us made the right decisions and moved out. If you are renting an aparment in a sub-par complex you can always more. But if you buy an apartment in a complex you don't like, you are stuck with it.
