Garden Oasis in the smoggy Valley

I lived at Warner Pines in a two-bedroom with my friend for 6 months before getting married and moving into a one-bedroom with my husband (where we lived for the next 3 years). Both apartments were great. The layout of the apartments gives the feeling of more square footage than you actually have. The fact that they have central A/C is WONDERFUL when it gets nasty and hot during the summer (window units just don't cut it when it's 119 degrees outside!). The pool and hot tub are heated even during the winter and that is nice. There is a little jogging track around a putting green (next to the tennis court) down near the pool and it is so nice to walk around it and look at all the trees and plants surrounding you. Actually, that is one of my favorite things about the Warner Pines apartment complex-- all the trees and plants they have. It makes it feel like a garden oasis in the middle of the nasty, smoggy Valley.
Warner Pines is within walking distance of a nice park-- where you can see a great fireworks display on the Fourth of July and then walk home when everyone else is fighting traffic (and had to pay for parking to boot). It is also within walking distance of the mall, the movie theatre, and many, many nice restaurants (PF Chang's, Cheesecake Factory, and Milano's to name just a few). There are a lot of great stores nearby (also within walking distance-- hey, not only is walking good for your health, but with gas prices these days...) such as Staples, Aaron Brothers, Bed Bath & Beyond, Pier 1, Target, Best Buy, PetSmart... I could go on and on and on! So the location is convenient to say the least! There is a small workout room with a sauna, bathroom, and shower. It's small, but better than nothing. And if you have a one-bathroom apartment and more person living there, that bathroom down there can come in mighty handy in an "emergency!"
We found the office staff and the maintenance staff to be friendly and GREAT! We were always greeted with a smile and any concerns we had, maintenance or otherwise, were always addressed promptly. When we left I was actually sad that I wouldn't be seeing them anymore. I enjoyed seeing them on a regular basis and chit chatting with them whenever I went down to the office. Both maintenance guys are awesome. They are prompt and fix things well the first time. When I was pregnant, one of the gals in the office even carried a heavy package I'd received in the mail up to my apartment for me (she offered). The mailman is super sweet too. (I know he isn't an employee of the apartment complex, but he was a positive part of my experience living there, so I mention him.)
One of the major things we really liked about this apartment complex was the fact that it is under "rent control." So, unlike other places where your rent goes up $150 - $200 or more when your lease is up (OUCH), at Warner Pines it only goes up 4% a year. You can calculate what it will be ahead of time which is helpful when you're on a budget. Also, after your initial lease it up, you are "month-to-month" (you cannot sign another lease). This is actually a huge advantage because then if and when you do move, you are not stuck in a lease and after giving notice are, at worst, only out one month's rent. And again, since there is rent control you don't have to worry about the rent being hiked up every time you turn around.
We had two parking spots (tandem style) which is nice for a one bedroom apartment-- sometimes you are only allotted one spot. And we never worried about our visitors being able to find parking because there were always spots on the streets outside or worse case the mall right across the way. Oh, and Warner Pines is right next to a nice, new bus station/area/hub. Very convenient!
I've lived/rented several different places and Warner Pines has been my favorite.
