I've lived at the Aventine for 4 months, and i think it is great. First let me say, on the negatives. The aventine is an older complex, some appliances are older, the large apartments could use their space better, and the hallways are a little "Blade Runner". Oddly, the noise from the apartments carry somewhat into the hallways. The POSITIVES, the apartments are large for the money. The apartments are quiet! Listen, this is old concrete slab (Read "Office Building") construction, with a foot of concrete between each floor and several inches between units. I am a nurse, i work weird hours, so i sleep weird hours! I have NEVER heard my neighbors up stairs. NEVER! Ive got young teens next door who play video games with a subwoofer and who likes to play the electric guitar. I can hear him in the hall, but not in my apartment. This place is quiet. A couple things have broken down, but maintenence is fast and polite. Yes, there is noise in the hallways and yes, sometimes the halls smell of cooking, AHH the humanity, but it is great. I've gone to several of the "Higher Dollar" apartments on Parker,, down to the 470 while i was apartment shopping and the leasing agents ALWAYS ephisize "It's Apartment Living" because you can hear everyone through the walls of their high dollar units! I like it quiet, I am happy here! A last note; I like the ELEVATORS and I like parking beneath the buildings so no scraping during the freezes.
