Brentwood Apartments

I'd prefer a pine box over this place!! From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 3/5/2006 Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006   Have you ever been taken for a ride at 3am watching one of those infomercial scams' That pretty much sums up my experience with this company. I spoke with both the leasing agent and the manager (who is longer employed there) over the phone on several occasions and was told this was a SAFE (keyword) and pleasant place to live. Since I work very hard for my money (other keyword) I tried to do most my research over the phone because usually by the time I got off from work...they were closed. My weekends were filled with packing and packing, so it was tough for me to search properties in person and the trusting (another keyword) person that I am, I figured I could go on someone's word. Because after all they wouldn't lie to me about the property would they' Hmmm....**Ding** **Ding** **Ding** That's the correct answer....THEY WOULD. They faxed me over the application and told me since I found the dump online I would not be charged an application fee. So I happily (what's even worse...excitedly) faxed back the application and guess what' I was APPROVED! Yeah....because I had a heartbeat. I just didn't know that part yet. So it was a Friday evening and I am on my way over to sign the lease that had been drawn up and prior to this I hadn't been to the property, but like I said...they spoke so highly of it. I arrived there before they closed, hurried and signed the lease and was on my way to pick up my Uhaul. I spend three hours loading that and drive it over to the apartment complex to check out my new place. As I am unloading my first load from the truck I was approached by an employee of theirs who proceeds to tell me the property is not safe! I said...What' The employee told me there is gang activity there, shootings there all the time, prostitution, drugs, etc... I was even told because of my ethnicity I wouldn't "fit in" or be safe. Well isn't that nice' So I loaded my things back into the truck because at that point the sun was starting to go down and I wasn't sure if I would even make it out alive. The leasing office was of course closed, so I had to unload my whol Uhual into a storage unit for the night because the Uhual was rented out first thing in the morning to someone else. The next morning I went into the leasing office when it opened...explained what happened and handed them back their keys. I asked to just get my Money Orders back and be on my way. I hadn't even moved into this crime scene yet. So they insisted it was sooo safe...even after their own employee warned me and I called the Aurora police department who informed me they were at the property "quite frequently". Right...I bet it's safe. So I had to argue with a leasing agent and the manager...neither of which lived on the property....I wonder why'' Since it was so safe there right''' So after going back and forth with them for days they FINALLY agreed to give me my money back...minus the security deposit of $100 for some unknown reason...AND minus the application fee that I am being charged for...all in the sudden. So $125 later, I am just glad to be getting the rest of my money and saving my life by not moving in. Except one little problem....they never gave me my money back. I kept calling to find out the status of my refund check and each time I called I had to explain the situation over and over because everytime it was a new person. New Manager, new staff, etc.. They couldn't keep staff at that place....I wonder why' After all it IS so safe right' This was in July and I am still being told...."the check is in the mail". I've never seen a dime. What a scam. If you love your life...and money...stay away from this place!!!
