Carleen, your views are bordering on fairytale time.

This is a reason why the Aurora Police can be heard at Old Chicago Restaurant proclaiming Hickory Ridge to be "Felony Ridge."

1. Complete lack of security. Several apartments have been broken into and many cars have been broken into or stolen. If the security guards are walking around, they sure are hiding themselves well as these crimes seem to occur in the 1 to 5 a.m. timeframe and they are nowhere to be seen. Hire more security for crying out loud. Isn't Hickory Ridge owned by one of the biggest corporations in the world' Arapahoe County's Assessor office can confirm this.
2. The drugs. They are everywhere. Walk by some of the buildings in the summer and take a deep breath. The teenagers at the local high school refer to Hickory Ridge as the place to go smoke pot and crack during and after school. Nice.
3. Families with 5,6 and 7 members living in one and two bedroom apartments. Isn't this a health department or housing violation'
4. Complete lack of parental control of the children. I have seen rock throwing, fighting, property destruction, etc. There is little or no supervision. Whenever supervision does appear, it is usually some screaming shrew shouting obcenities at her children. Go stand by the playground this summer. Its an education on really bad parenting.
5. Maintenance is hit and miss. Although I have had very few complaints, I have heard many tenants complain about the extremely slow response to issues. And why is there so much trash all over the complex' Take a walk around each and every building and take a really good look.
6. Apartment walls. There is little or no sound barrier between apartments and there are quite a few tenants that are just blasting their music whenever they feel like it. Apparently they feel no threat of reprisal from the office or so I have been told by one of them. If the walls are so thin that I can hear each and every sexual exclamation from my neighbors, then the walls are too thin.
7. Cheap appliances, cheap carpet, cheap paint, really bad air conditioners. Enough said on that subject.
8. Snow removal and properyt maintenance is not great and if there is any damage to your property or person, Hickory Ridge management will not try to assist you, they will just throw up their hands in denial of responsibility. Not very empathetic. If you decide to live here, keep a good lawyer on retainer.
9. Pets. Aurora has a leash and vaccination law. Neither are respected at this complex.

There are so many things wrong at this complex that could be corrected so easily yet no one seems to take responsibility. Carleen, people aren't going to tell you what they really think because they are afraid their lease won't be renewed and no other complex (with a decent credit and security check) will take them or they just can't afford to move. Try hanging around some of the local happy hours and just listen to what people really say. For that matter, go ask the bartenders because believe me your tenants and ex-leasing agents are in there talking. Try coming out of your office sometime and open your eyes woman.
