Definitely Pros and Cons

A great place if you don't mind your downstairs neighbor growing pot in his closet (quickly evicted, for the record), or a meth lab a few buildings down (ditto). Our first summer we had several cars get broken into in our parking lot, and the next summer none were broken into -- must be a criminal variation of crop rotation. Driving a 15-year-old car kept us from being burgled. Oddly, I never felt nervous in the parking lot; I was more worried about people getting into my apartment since the locks were so flimsy and the security door was a joke most of the time.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T OPT FOR BUILDING "S". If they try to sell you on the "great open space!" since you're at the edge of the complex, don't buy it like we did. Truth is, you get ballfield lights shining in your window until 11 p.m. every night of the week (March through October), and increasingly drunken softball players outside your window. That was by far the worst aspect of living at Kennedy Ridge, and there was nothing the management could do about it since it was off property.

Our neighbors were (like many of the posters here) narrow-minded bigots who were sure that the newly-married Christian Ethiopian couple living downstairs were drug-dealers. I think a lot of the complaints stem from a fear of the unknown and blowing rumors out of proportion. "Ghetto" or "A place we can afford while we learn the customs and language of a new country"' Come on. I'd way rather smell curry in my hallway than cats and stale beer. I'll take diversity any day over the arrogant prejudice in these complaints.

If you're trying to live modestly and can put up with the possibility of criminal activity that probably won't affect you directly, it's not a bad deal. The vast majority of residents here are in the same boat.
