Upon returning to college, I rented what seemed to be an average affordable apartment with a good pet policy. From the day I moved in (the day before the big blizzard) I have had issues with heat. Most recently, I have been 6 days without heat (with temperatures in the teens)and they have been unable to fix it. That is AFTER the 3 days when I couldn't get a response on the emergency maintenance number. I called 12 times in a 24 hour period and spent my Thanksgiving in an apartment that ranged from 49-55 degrees F. The only way I was able to heat my place was by turning on the oven and using a fan. I have also had the same problem with the air conditioning. Colorado does not have a state Warranty of Habitabilty statute so run don't walk from bad properties like this one.
Note: After posting this, I have now been nine days without heat and I have never regretted a lease as much as I have this one.

12/11/07....I sure agree with you as I regret the day I signed a lease for this property. The maintenanace SUCKS here, especially regarding the heat. Two grandkids stayed over last night after maintenanace was here for over five hours and STILL couldnt figure it out, and stated a new one was needed. He left at 5:30 and I havent had a call since. Like you relying on the oven and fireplace is NOT sufficient heart especially for children. I intend to seek out legal advice if I do not receive a call of communication from this place. I recommend to anybody interested in even checking this property out but RUN like heck as the sweet talk the office staff gives you is nothing more than getting their monthly "fill".

I totally agree with you, for I have lived four years now and the heating bill for my third floor apartment is outrageous and the air conditioning has never worked properly since the day I moved in. They have sold the property and ever since last year they tore up the parking lot and has yet to replace it and their has been absolutely no parking for months. This property you would like to stay away from for the rent is affordable but to sum it all up, I guess we get what we pay for

As to the 'dingus' comment? My math is correct in that I contacted them 12 times in 24 hours BUT then I continued to contact them for the duration of the weekend...I just stopped counting at that point. I was later told that the 'emergency' maintenance number was no longer working. So much for emergency. So to clarify, my math is fine and I am only a 'dingus' for signing a lease with this property.

I feel your pain I too have been living without heat, the City of Aurora keeps coming out to inspect but still no response from maintenance. And I can second the fact that emergency maintenance does not exist as i was told so by the office.
