When I lived here, it wasn't to the point of crappiness that most of the people have stated. It was somewhat decent that time. But there were so many problems with the place:

Leaking pipes! my mom had some linens in the closet that she had to throw out because the pipes bursted one day and left all this mildew/mold stains on a lot of her clothing and linens. They had to rip the walls off and fix the pipes... the carpet and walls looked like crap after that.

Water heater bursted one night too. Good thing I was awake at the time to wake up the rest of the family to see what was going on. Otherwise, it would've flooded the whole apt. The maintenance guys were on 24hr service at that time and replaced the water heater the next day.

Rent was ridiculously priced at $900 by the time we left, because there was something about raising the rent after each year... I remember Tonya, the manager around 95/94, said "your rent is at $650, and it gets better and better each year." Better and better for them. So we looked at houses instead since that seemed to be the same as paying almost 1k for an apt.

The stairs weren't as shabby as they probably are now, but I noticed that the metal encasing of each step showed some signs of corrosion which they painted over. They used to shake a lot too as you walked up

I'm so glad to be out of that place!
