Too Spendy for what you Get

I have lived at Boulder Creek for the past year and my feelings on it are very mixed. I read a lot of complaints from people living on the lower levels. I live on the upstairs floor and the person below me constantly was calling in noise complaints even though I was not being loud. The issue of the noise therefore is a problem for both the people upstairs and downstairs. You are surrounded by a total of 4 apartments in most cases, and can hear when anyone around you watches a movie, closes cupboards, talks, sings, uses the shower. I didn't find this too bothersome though because I expected this with apartment living. The management is very polite, however they are not necessarily interested in helping you. If you have dogs I would not reccommend this apartment. Although they have a wonderful dog park and plenty of pick-up stations, the complaints from other residents regarding your dogs are extremely plentiful, and often unfounded. I found that I became a sort of fall-guy for anything that went wrong because I was the only one in my apartment cluster with dogs. The pet rent is very high every month ($30/pet) and the pet deposit is very rediculous and completely non-refundable. The square footage in the apartments, especially the one-bedroom and studio apartments is very ver small, especially when you consider the price. These apartments have virtually zero storage aside from the small walk in closet. No coat closet, pantry, etc. The bathroom and kitchens are updated and the appliances work well. However, all apartments except the townhomes have a "Euro-Washer" not a standard washer and dryer unit. A Euro-Washer washes and drys your clothes all in unit and sits under your kitchen counter like the dishwasher. It is EXTREMELY Noisy ( you can't sleep if it is on and it is frustrating to even have to be i the apartment with it when it is on), breaks often and needs a specialist (which takes anywhere from 3-8 days) to come fix, can only wash 5-10 articles of clothing at one time, and doesn't have heat settings on the dryer which never dries the clothes the whole way anyways. The lighting in the place is not very plentiful or attractive. All rooms in the apartment are very very small. The only places that have any sort of balcony are the upstairs units. The townhomes have a small outside patio, and the downstairs apartments only have a stoop. The balconies are very small (not even a medium-sized grill will fit) on the units that do have them. The one-bedroom townhomes are the only other units that I have ever seen the interior of and they do have more space, including a small under-stair storage space. The maintenance people are very responsive, and the grounds always look clean and well manicured. There have been a few flooding problems with the dog park, and a water-main broke last fall and the residents were charged for the increased water usage. The parking is another thing I did not like, because unless you have a townhome you cannot park very close to your apartment, which isn't so bad unless you are loading/unloading your car. The other problem is that they complex overall seems to discriminate against college kids even though it is a college town. Overall, I would not live here unless you are looking for a townhome apartment and location is VERY important to you. You will pay for location. The management knows everything that you do and are very quick to accuse. The amentities are much nicer in apartments in neighboring cities and you will not pay near as much.
