Rude and Rundown Trash for the Naive Student

So I was looking for apartments in Boulder. I have rented with other Equity Properties before, like Cierra Crest in Denver, and I was happy there so I thought I'd give this place a try.

As soon as I drove in I knew something was terribly wrong. The paint on the buildings was chipping everywhere, the sidewalks were cracked everywhere, there were weeds growing up through the cracks, and many of the blinds and window screens were bent or coming apart.

By the time I drove up to the tattered "Welcome Future Resident" sign, I was ready to drive away.

But I had come this far, so I decided to go in and see what they had to offer. Surely the prices would be good in this dump, I thought, and maybe things would look better from the inside.

I came in and was greeted by the sour face of a very prissy girl.

"Hi," I said. "I'd like to see an apartment'"

Now I'm a decent looking guy, I take a shower every day, but she looked at me as if I were a troll. "There are no apartments to look at," she said, bitterly.

"But I'll need to see one if I'm going to live here," I said. I couldn't believe they were attempting to sell apartments and didn't have any models open.

"Our model is being renovated," she said. It wasn't going to be ready for another month. What poor salesmanship. They were never going to sell apartments this way, and the way she grimaced at me, I felt they probably didn't care. It was as if the whole community existed because it had to exist, like a groaning fat old woman, not because it wanted to.

I should have quit then but I wanted to know how much they were charging to live in this festering, rat-swollen ghost town.

She quoted me a one-bedroom apartment price at $500 over the price quoted on their web site. When I protested and told her what I had read on the website, she said, "All prices are subject to change at anytime, that should have been clear on the web site."

I smiled. That was it. Next....
