You get what you pay for

I have lived in Boulder now since August 2003 and lived in 2 different apartment buildings that are mainly students. In Boulder, you can expect to be paying at least $600 a month anywhere near campus. I thought that living by myself here for this price was great. Then I moved in and within 3 months, I had a huge problem with bed bugs. I could not live in my apartment for a week because it took them 3 days to get someone to come spray and then it takes 3 days for the spray to not irritate you skin from the mattress. I would strongly recommend that you look into this problem before signing a lease because I know for a fact that I am not the only one who had this problem this year and that almost all of my neighbors also had this problem as well.
Other than that, I haven't had too many problems, I live on the top floor of the older buildings so it can get extremely hot with the vaulted ceilings. I haven't needed to use my heaters for that reason, but I don't think they actually work. Also, be aware that in the older buildings you have a gas range and oven which is quite different than normal cooking.
The one major thing that I would say is a definite plus is that there is always parking, I lived on the hill and this can be a huge plus!!!
I would just say to look into what you are getting and possibly talk to the current resident before you move in in order to check and see if you are moving into a BED BUG infested apartment or not.
