I'd heavily advise against living here

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
Where to start:
Me and my wife moved here on the basis of the three review below. I should have looked harder. Make no mistake, this place IS a dump, but I have not HATED living here, I'm just wont pay more money to break the lease because I am cheap.
Overall:
-Nice floorplan
-Good views of the flatirons
-rather well insulated.
-Nice park next door, if you dont mind the hordes of bums. Rather well kept up basketball court
Bathroom:
- I have yet to be able to take a shower at any time of day / night where the water does not get icy cold in less than 5 mins.
- The bathtub was badly chipping when I arrived, and it progressivly got worse. The way maintaince fixed it was by squirting caulk all over the chips and telling us not to take a shower for a couple days.
-The bathtub had no caulk around the tub to wall ring.
-There is mold on all the walls and ceilings in the bathroom, despite the fact we always leave the doors open so they can ventilate.
- The shower fills up with water in 2 mins. You take a bath even if you dont want to. Maintance has use draino, but it never lasts much more than a couple months.
- Ceiling has really odd leak marks. I dont remember water dripping in the bathroom, but there are still rather orangy stains all over the ceiling.
Kitchen:
- Dishwasher never properly cleans stuff. There is always ground up bits of crap on 'clean' dishes, especially cups
- NEVER run the garbage disposal and the dishwasher at the same time. The garbage disposal's output is not connected with closed pipes to force it down the drain. It just spills out into the cabinet under the sink.
- New refrigerator. Mostly works, but constantly drips in the back. I just put a cup there to catch the frozen water. It actually is fun to play with the 32oz block of ice :-)
-Stove and Oven are dated, but work really well. Something to say back when crap was actually made in the US.
- Floor is dirty / grungy. We have tried, but we cannot clean it.
- Very thick Grime under the cabinets / oven / refrig. Cannot even see the vinyl flooring
Living Room:
-There is a wierd hole in the wall where some past fixing of plumbing in the bathroom was not redone correctly. We hide it behind a chair
-Not any good lighting. We bought a lamp, and that seemed to fix many problems.
-THe wall mount AC is in the living room.
Bedrooms:
- We use one as an office.
- Does not take long to heat either room.
- Average sized and really boxy.
- Neither door has a lock on it. Not that we care, but if you have kids, it may be important
Neighbors:
- I dont mind the neighbors. Occasionally, the downstairs people start up with the tuba, and it sounds liek they are trying to form up a Mariachi band, but sadly, they need TONS of more practice. They almost always stop around 6pm, and its really muffled. I sorta enjoy it :-)
- The halls smell really funny sometimes like a wierd mix of: curry, pizza, college student, and good (as well as bad) mexican food. Its a new adventure every day!
- 99% of the residents you meet will smile at you if you say hi.
Management:
- Landlord is nice if you keep out of her hair.
- Has not dealt with the problem of people parking to visit friends down the street. I have personally seen at least 2 cars park and walk across the street or down a block or so.
- You will get one parking spot per bedroom.
- Management likes to write vindictive, but funny, nastygrams. To help out with the mold problem in the rather closed off bathroom, I would open the window after showering. I dont know how to explain it, but I got a letter telling me to "Please turn your shower head away from the window as it is running down the side of the building". Note: you cannot even aim the shower head at the window if you want to. Even then, you would be providing a free show to the whole park.
Maintance:
- Maintance decided that while caulking the bathroom (see above), rather than use a trash to throw away the excess caulk, flushing it down the sewer was easier. Maybe that explains the clogging issues.
- Maintance never has performed as per the lease (give written notice before entry). Maintance will knock once, and if you do not answer within 10 seconds, will procede to unlock your door. Now, there are two locks (one which can only be locked from the inside). If Maintance still cannot open the door, they will procede to unlock the second lock and walk in. Lets not forget that the second can only be locked from the inside, meaning your wife could be naked in bed, with some strange man barging his way in. This barge in happened at least two times to my knowledge. This is one of the main reasons we will be moving: even locked it is not secure.
Overall:
-If you dont mind living without a bunch of ammenities, this place IS cheap for the area.
-If you dont mind a filled in swimming pool, it provides a nice talking point for friends
-You can accuratly see how much snow falls by looking at some tables outside.
