Good (and inexpencive) place to live when transitioning out of college

I did the dorms and then the hill and they were great for immature kids on their parents dime who want to party. This area was more quiet, low income family oriented (at least if you're on the south side). I enjoyed my stay, and it was a good price for 1 bedroom, in a time when I was getting up for work every other day and didn't want to trip over roommates drunk asses in the morning.
