Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
My lease began June 1, 2004. I personally do not own a car, so on June 2nd, I borrowed a friends car to take some boxes and complete my move. I looked for a space on the street infron of the Village and found they were all taken. It was maybe 10:30 or so, I had work the next day, the boxes were heavy, and there were plenty of spaces in the lot (about 15). I decided I would park there and quickly leave the boxes in my apartment.
Less than 10 minutes later I return to find my friend's car booted. I understand the rules about having a parking sticker, but I did not receive a sticker b/c I do not own a car, nor was I advised about having one or multiple stickers for a car I did not own.
I called the Colo. Security Serv. and the security guard heard my story. It was obvious I was just moving in, and all he said was "I'm sorry -- do you have the $60 cash to remove the boots off you car." I was very upset and reported this to the apartment Complex.
The manager responded by saying that the security guard was just doing his job--and maybe, but to do a good job we also must use common sense. She even told me about a similar story --and did nothing about it. So to the apartment complex my suggestion is to either (1) provide temporary multiple stickers for move-ins, such as rental trucks etc. --I mean how are we suppose to know what the model, make, license plate # etc are for cars we will borrow or rent' or(2) Advise the people "they" hire to secure the place to use some common sense, or completely hire new services. After all, the purpose is to provide some benefit to the tenants. I am a tenant, whose lease had just began the day before, and there were plenty of parking spaces that night.
