i was on the third floor when the a building got water but if joshua miller (one of the other reviewers) had taken the time to actually talk to the people in charge he would have found out that it was because the old roof had been torn off and nothing had been put on by the roofers to cover the building over the weekend. as soon as i called the emergency maintenance (which was like midnight) there was a maintenance guy there trying to keep the water from reaching the floor. he also managed to get some carpet people there in the middle of the night to suck the water from the carpet. the staff did the best they could with the situation AND by the way it was not gallons of water and they offered everyone a larger apartment OR the opportunity to break their lease. most of my neighbors stayed because they were impressed by the way the staff handled the situation. i still live here on the third floor and i have yet to even have a leak.
as far as the aesbestos, mr. joshua got that wrong too. if he read his lease he would see that all it says is that it is there and you can't put and tacks or anything in the ceiling...it is not a waiver.
the new manager got here in april 2005 and she is soooooooo much better than the old one. things were so awful with jan ulrich and when i first moved in there was still green shag carpet and the original appliances from the 70's (this was june 2004). everything in my apartment is new: floors, carpet, appliances, bathroom tile, etc.
