An actual 'crack house'

As a CU student I was stoked to move here because of the prime location between Pearl Street and the Hill.
The location is not worth it...living here was absolutely awful.
1.
There are actual convicts in this building.
One tenant who lived directly next to the entrance of the building was on house arrest.
He would always leave his sliding door open and just watch people (since he couldn't leave his house due to his ankle monitor).
Not only did he make me feel really uncomfortable, but I witnessed drug deals on more than one occasion.
I'm not kidding, and yes I am positive they were drug deals, and no I'm not talking pot...
2.
The walls are beyond paper thin.
Lucky me, the guy above me went to work every morning at about 5:30 am, and as a late-nighter, I usually went to bed only a few hours before this.
EVERY SINGLE morning I awoke to the pounding of his death-metal/satanic/angry/punk music (if it is considered music).
I dealt with it for a while, but eventually complained.
But this apparently pissed him off so he started a 'loud war' with me.
He would not only play the music earlier and louder, but jump up and down on the floor.
My only choice (I could still hear it through ear plugs and headphones, and several sleeping pills) was to play my music louder to try to block it out.
But the goth-psycho was nothing compared to the nymphomaniac who lived below me.
Several times every day I got to hear her screaming as she had sex.
There was a 6 year old kid in the apartment next to her so I talked to the property manager, but nothing changed, and the screams of "F@#$ me HARDER!" continued.

Don't bother taking the parking permit.
It is essentially useless unless you won't use your car after 3PM.
The lots are totally full by the early afternoon, and being it the Hill, I had to park more than four or five blocks away SEVERAL times.
My (new) car also got hit twice while parked in the lot, and someone slammed their door into it hard enough to cause $800 worth of damage.
But parking is, of course, "at your own risk", so I was stuck with the payments.
4.
The laundry machines are USELESS.
I usually had to do two or three wash cycles to make my clothes look and feel clean.
The dryers are fine, but be careful about your laundry room behavior.
I was folding my laundry once, and brought a beer to the room with me.
It was probably about 10:30, and the laundry room closes at 10, so a security guard came in and started hassling me.
Even though I was 21, he took my beer, and asked me if I wanted him to call the police.
He then made me leave the laundry room before I could take the rest of my stuff out of the dryer and bolted the door so I couldn't get in.
He 'escorted' me to my apartment and told me not to cause anymore trouble.
I complained to the property manager, and her response was that they are an independant company and she was sorry.
She sounded REALLY sincere...um, no.

Believe it or not, it gets worse.
I was born and raised in Boulder, and never had gotten so much as a bug bite before Marine Park.
Every type of bug imaginable shows up at some point during your lease.
I am extremely clean, so there is no way that the bugs were a result of food or mold or anything.
I woke up one morning covered in small red dots, and as I am extremely allergic to a few things, and thought they were the beginning of hives, so I went to the emergency room.
5 hours later, after being hooked up on an IV, and given tons of blood samples, my doctor told me they were bed bug bites.
Turns out the property manager wasn't surprised, and was so familiar with the problem that she had stacks of pre-printed literature about it.
She told me she would have the exterminator spray my apartment.
(Marine Park has an exterminator come TWICE EVERY MONTH! because there are so many bugs!) The best part though, is that I was charged $65 for the extermination.
I also had to throw away my sheets and pillows, get all my clothes professionally cleaned, and stay in a hotel for three days.
All in all, this place is a total crap hole.
It always smells disgusting in the halls, there are usually bums roaming around the building, the air conditioning sucks, transients bathe in the pool, and it is all and all the biggest rip off in the world.
DO NOT LIVE HERE FOR GOD SAKES.
IT IS NOT WORTH IT.
