I was a grad student at CU and had no car, I had to live close to campus, and that is the only thing the Dakotas (the gentle euphamism given to these apartments) is good for.
For three year I endured noisy neighbors, music until 4 in the morning from the twit across the hall until he moved out in the middle of the night because the cops found out he had a warrant. I had to call the cops dozens of times to shut the music down. Maintence was not existant, my windows have never been repaired in all three years, my toilet ran, and my facuets leaked. Then there was the summer of the cockroach, until I refuse to pay rent-nothing was done.
Parking was always a problem until someone stole my friends car. Then my friends didn't visit anymore.
I never felt safe, and the final insult was when someone used a master key to get into my apartment- they weren't maintence, they didn't fix anything, but they did eat my food and mess with my stuff.

If it was so bad, why did you live there for 4 years? There are many other properties surrounding the campus.
