Honestly, the worst place I have EVER lived

I lived here from August 2008 to May 2009, and I can honestly say you would be making a mistake living here. First of all, I didn't receive a copy of my lease when I first signed it, and didn't know when to pay rent. They charged me a late fee and when I came in to discuss how I didn't know because they failed to give me a copy, they said too bad and made me pay an extra $50 tacked onto the already too expensive rent ($620/month). The pool was open for maybe a month the entire time I was living here. The staff is incredibly rude to existing tenants, while misleadingly nice to possible future tenants. The hot tub RARELY works, the "fitness center" is so small that 3 people in it feels cramped. The laundry service, although on site, was under construction and inaccessible for months. The clubhouse is deceivingly nice, including the room they show you, but the rest of the rooms are horrible and filthy. Everything is always BROKEN! and it takes weeks for them to fix it. Finally, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE END DATE OF YOUR LEASE THROUGHOUT YOUR ENTIRE TERM OF VACANCY. Even if you give them 120 days notice of your vacancy, you will still have to pay until the end of the month. I was told by the landlord that the only time you can change the date is when you sign the lease. This is an EXTREME inconvenience and waste of money, especially if you have taken all of the precautionary steps to ensure your vacancy date, and you still have to pay anyway. I needed to move into another apartment for the summer, and I didn't find out until 2 weeks before my vacancy date that I needed to pay for the entire month. (I was moving out May 9 and I was told to pay until May 31.) THIS APARTMENT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY FOR THE HORRIBLE SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE.

Well you should of read your lease when you signed it to find out when rent is due. This is more than likley the first place you have lived at outside your parents house cause almost all places make you pay till the lease ends it just makes sense.Good luck on your next place.

How do you not get a copy of your lease...if they actually didn't give you one, that was a huge mistake, but you're signing and initialling documents. Don't you think it would be wise to read said documents and understand what you're signing?

It's pretty standard to require a tenant to pay until the end of their lease, or to make it there responsibility to find someone to sublet the apartment (and not all apartment complexes allow sublets). That's basically what a lease is... a contract for length of stay.
