I've read the reviews on Timber Ridge, which owns the Maplewood complex, where I have lived for the past 8 months. Nearly every review has been negative and I wonder if that is because the reviewers all lived in Timber Ridge.

I haven't had any problems with the office staff and since some of the older and (stupider) office staff have been replaced, things seem to work rather smoothly. They typically are friendly and I have had no problems with them of any kind. No lost rent checks, no attitude problems, nothing.

The walls here are thin, but not any more thin than anywhere else. You can't hear your neighbor speaking next door, but you can tell when they're having a party. I don't know of an apartment where you couldn't tell. Overall, Maplewood is really pretty quiet anyway, except for the occasional idiot with a suped up Honda that thinks that having a car that sounds like a loud lawnmower makes him cool. Other than that, things are pretty quiet.

Maintenance is courteous, too. Both times I have had to deal with them they have arrived on time and the problem has been solved without issue. They are prompt and it is easy to schedule an appointment for them to show up and make repairs. Maplewood has a full time maintenance staff that is available 5 days a week from 9-5. Pretty good for a small, private complex.

The other nice thing about Maplewood is the quality of the apartments. Most have been remodeled in the last 5 years, so tile floors and white cabinets are standard in most. The walls are drywall, not plaster, and are typically in excellent condition. My apartment has been very well kept and looked great when I moved in.

Overall, I would recommend Maplewood, but only for the serious student. There aren't many parties here, mostly just quiet people who are at work most of the day or students working on their studies. If you're looking for a party area, check on the Hill.
