A heads up!!!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

This apartment complex was pretty dismal. I lived there for a year and had one problem after the next. First of all, the apartments are tiny tiny, the place I live in now is almost double the size for $20 less a month, and its only about two blocks away. However, when I moved in I thought it was a pretty cheap place for Boulder (it isnt, its just very well advertised, you can find much better if you look). Also, from having a friend move in, and subsequently talking to a few neighbors, I found out that the prices are almost arbitrary, no one on my floor seemed to be paying the same amount for apartments that were essentially identical. Now to the real problems; within a week of moving in I realized my place was infested with bedbugs. Despite the fact that the lease states that they have to deal with bug infestations, the woman at the office was condescending and kept trying to blame the infestation on me. After having my place sprayed with toxic chemicals 4 seperate times (a nightmare each time, you have to wash every blanket, pillow, or peice of clothing thats touched the floor then put them in trashbags, disasemble every piece of furnature, vacuume the whole apartment and then wait for someone to spray your place with stuff that I happen to be allergic to, just to have to do it all again when you find out it didnt compleatly work 2 weeks later... ugg!)the bedbugs were finally gone and I didnt have any major problems the rest of the time. I will say that the complex is pretty quiet on the whole, and the walls must be pretty thick because I never heard a neighbors music or anything. And I should mention that the maintanance people are really sweet and respond pretty quickly. But 2 more major complaints: The stairs to my apt were really steep and were not shoveled if snow fell on the weekends, so on one occasion when they had a particularly thick sheet of ice I slipped and ended up with a black eye - but was probably lucky not to get more hurt. Second, I didnt get a penny back out of my deposit. I had my carpets professionally cleaned (as the lease said I needed to) scrubbed the fridge, counters, drip pans, etc and even borrowed paint from maintenance to go over a few places on the walls. But I never got my check back! Not a cent, which makes me absolutly furious because the place was spotless when I left it. Overall my entire experiance with the place was very bitter, I am much much happier at a complex a block down the street, and I'm paying less for more space! Just trust me, there are much much nicer places to live in Boulder.
Oh, and I'd like to point out that the office writes a lot of the positive reviews. I dont live here anymore and have no stake in lying about how the place works, but when the maintanace guy told me that the reviews are written by staff I was VERY angry and thought I should give the rest of you a heads up. You can find much nicer places. Good luck!

So, what is being done about it? And btw, would you disclose which building you live in pls? Apparently they can spread easily through the walls to adjacent apartments. I live here too so this info would be helpful. Thx

What apartment do you live in now? Does it allow dogs? I'm already starting my search for someplace new but still in this location.
