i've lived here for 5yrs only cause of convenience school and work in that time i've had countless people just walk right into my apartment if my door is not locked they just walk right in thinking there friends wouldnt mind.the staff does very little to care for you they will close the office at anytime they feel packages that are to big to fit in the very small mailboxes are automatically sent to the office where if you dont get home by 4pm friday you will have to wait all weekend to get the package when you sign a lease be prepared for them to send you a notice 5 months into your 1 year trying to pressure you into renewing your lease saying they will start showing your apt. as early as 5 months before your lease will end which i had happen every week atleast once a week till i decided to finally sign a new lease it might be located very close to campus but it is not by any means a place to feel safe. in 2006 i had a gun pulled on me while parking down the street and walking to my apartment. my car was stolen and countless others are putting up posts in the laundry rooms here about diffrent crimes committed to them and asking for witnesses
if you want a lower quality of live and dont mind home invasions loud partying of college students then this place is for you

Odd. I've lived here for 2 years and think it's great. Especially for the convenience of being so close to campus. I've never had any problems with the management, they've always been very helpful when asked. I did have some noisy neighbors for a bit, but I think they got evicted eventually; but parties and such are just a side effect of the college town that is Boulder. And here's an idea about not having your home invaded: lock your door! I always keep my door locked, never had a problem with vandalism or anything of the like. I have never seen any crime, the worst I've seen is an ambulance/fire truck once a week down the street due to the senior apartments there (assuming that someone living there has health problems).

I've seen some of the complaints the original poster has mentioned, such as 4 months before my lease was scheduled to expire, I received multiple flyers in my door stating rent increases and if I didn't sign a new lease they would start showing my apartment- they stated that they could start showing at the beginning of April and my lease is up at the end of June 2008, but they've never notified me of any showing (that doesn't mean that they weren't in here without my knowledge (which wouldn't surprise me)). My hot water went out frequently for the first couple months and this was usually when the office staff was not in (which was often) and the emergency line frequently had a busy signal for hours. (This is against the law- to be without hot water). Our apartment was also really small, but I knew that going in, so that's not a big deal. Our utilities weren't very high, our oven usually heated our apartment during the winter. We did change our lock to one that didn't have a flip switch on the inside- since the door has a window in it. The management didn't have a problem with this and we feel better with a keyed lock on both sides. Never seen any crime, but did have some annoying neighbors who rather than use the courtyards for playing with a football/lacrosse gear (which is what they are there for) decided that the parking lots were better. They hit multiple cars and when I asked them to take it somewhere else they told me to *eff* off. I called the police but there wasn't anything they could do. The second time it happened the office staff was actually in and they said they would go out and tell them to stop, but they never did. The staff was condescending when people were using the laundry room after hours and I asked them to help enforce it. (We live right next to the laundry room and hear the door slam well into the wee hours of the morning when the hours are 9am to 10pm). They put up a sign telling residents to use another laundry room in the complex if they needed it after 10pm- basically just telling their own residents they could break their own rules!

I don't know what this person is talking about. I have been here a year and think this place is just great. First, everywhere here in Boulder shows your place if your ending your lease. That is weird for me cuz they don't do that in Florida where i grew up, but it is apparently commonplace here. Second, the staff is extremely friendly and are very attentive to needs. The recently remodeled and renovated apartments are the nicest I have seen in Boulder, which is a town that for the most part stuck back in the 70's. The landscaping is beautiful too. The only thing I would recommend to anyone looking to rent here is go with the larger one bedrooms or up. There are some really small ones which I couldn't see living in, but the one I have is comfortably spacious. As for the crime thing, dude you must be the only person to get mugged by gunpoint in this area ever. This is no ghetto where it happens regularly. Crime can happen anywhere, but this neighbrhood should not get labeled bad because of your extremely unusual experience. All in all my experience with this neighborhood has been outstanding and I recommend it to anyone.

I wrote my own review but I forgot to mention something on the crime part. I would like to point out that I was never afraid for my safety, and I think the gun thing could have happened anywhere (I've never been afraid in Boulder, lived in much scarier places) but I did know of a major meth dealer living in one of the dog friendly apartments. He was awful! his 7-8ish year old kid would be out at around 4 in the morning riding his bike in the parking lot, no supervision, and when I talked to him he mentioned that his dad had a habit of 'finding' bikes around Boulder and then showed me a rack of spray-painted bikes that his dad was selling. He is in jail now for apparently molesting said boy (I dont know if its true or not) but I feel like the fact that he was there, and that we complained to management many many times without result, makes the place even less safe and less desirable to live in
P.S. Beware of anonymous comments, the office has a habit of checking this site
