I posted a review about Camden some time ago while I was still living there. I have since moved out and wanted to post an update with my experiences with them after moving out.

If you read many of the other reviews, one common issue you will find is that they are very unfair when it comes to fees when you vacate your unit. I was not only extremely unsatisfied with my experience living at Camden, but I too was fleeced for hundreds of dollars in fees when I moved out. I would like to share my experience here with the hope that I can prevent others from getting ripped off by Camden.

My wife and I hated living at Camden. Once our lease was up, we promptly gave notice and moved out. We hired a cleaning service and paid something like $300 for a full "move out" cleaning to be done on the apartment. The cleaning service left the place spotless. Everything was taken care of -- the oven, the refrigerator, the baseboards, etc. The place was certainly left in better shape than when we moved in.

A few months after we moved out, we received a bill from Camden for over $800. They charged us for cleaning the oven, microwave, bathtub, etc. All of those items were spotless when we moved.

But here is the real kicker: They charged us something like $600 to replace all of the carpet. Their letter included pictures of the carpet taken using a black-light which showed stains that they claim were pet stains.

The carpet was far from new when we moved in, and there certainly was no black-light used when doing the walk-through. I was completely beside myself that they would do such a thing.

As a warning to anyone considering moving to this place -- DO NOT expect to get your deposit back. Make sure to note EVERYTHING when you do a walk-through. Make them bring their stupid black light with them. Even then, expect to get a nice bill from them when you move; no matter how good you clean the place.

Again, I urge anyone considering leasing an apartment at Camden Interlocken to read through the rest of the reviews on this site. Look at how many bad reviews they have received and look at all the commonalities across these reviews. Camden is a horrible place with terrible management and they will rip you off. If I can help just ONE person to avoid getting tangled up with these people, then the time I spent writing this will have been worthwhile.

Hilarious review! You might want to know that when we moved out one of the maintenance people told my husband that the reason for the cracks is many of the buildings are build over an old mining shaft.
