I lived at Deer Crest Apartments for 10 months. When we first moved in, there was a honeymoon period. I would come in and they would help me right away. After about a month or so, they stopped helping. Our apartment building had an earwig infestation (if you don't know what they are, they look like little cockroaches with these gross pinchers on their heads). It took the management almost a month to do anything about it. When things would fall apart or stop working in the apartment, I had to call and go down everyday until someone would come and fix it. I wanted to get a pet and was quoted a certain price for pet rent, then when I got the pet the next day and told them, the price miraculously went up. When I told management about it, they said they would look in to it and see what they could do to get the price back down. Every month I went in to pay the rent and asked them about the money back, they looked at me like they had no idea what I was talking about. There is always dog poop all over the grounds. They say they'll fine you if you don't pick it up but I've gone in and told them about residents that don't pick up the poop and they told me that if management or maintenance doesn't see it, there's nothing they can do. They don't even have maintenance come around and pick it up. Also, they have poop bag dispensers that are always empty and when you ask if they could refill them, they always say that they ordered them and are waiting for them to come in.
I moved out a month and a half before my rent was up because I couldn't stand it anymore. I asked them about breaking my lease and it was going to cost me more to do so than to just pay the last month of rent. When I went in to pay the last month's rent, I told them I wasn't living there so I wouldn't be paying the last month of pet rent. They said okay ( about a week and a half later, my neighbor called me and said that there was a sign on my door that said I owed money in the amount of the pet rent because I didn't pay it for the month. It also had a date on the paper that said I had to pay it by a date that had already passed or else I would own an extra $50 for it being late). At the end of my conversation with management and telling them that I wasn't living in the apartment, they asked me if I could get it cleaned out so they could rent it out sooner. I said that I would if they gave me a break on the rent and they refused. I said that I wouldn't be getting the rest of my stuff out then until the month was up. They were upset. After the final walk through, maintenance said that I owned money for the drip pans on the stove (drip pans that took me an hour to clean). I talked to a friend and they said that drip pans are a lot cheaper if you just buy them yourself. When I called the office to ask them about how much the drip pans would cost through the apartment, a person named Amy (works at the front desk) was really rude and snapped at me. She gave me attitude and told me that if I was going to complain they would just take the cost off. She ended the conversation by saying, "Are you happy'" and then hung up the phone.
Yes the actual apartments are okay inside (not worth it for the price) but is it really worth it for the service you get' Keep looking around, I'm sure you'll find something better.
