Not as bad as the reviews say...

I think some of the previous reviews have been written by the same person with a vendetta against the complex. I have lived in Marquis for about 2 1/2 years, and have had few problems. Yes, the parking is bad if you don't have a garage or a carport, but you can always find a spot somewhere. Yes, the gate is often broken, but this because morons keep breaking it by ramming it with their cars to force it open. The management isn't always on the ball, but the maintainence team is top-notch. If something goes wrong, they always respond the same day, often within a couple hours they are super nice. The apts themselves are very nice, and well kept. Beware of the cream colored carpets, though, which can get obviously dirty very fast. Neighbor noise hasn't been a problem for me. Only when its really quiet in my apt can I hear others walking around, which is expected when living in an apartment. The pool area is nice and visually pleasing, but the pool itelf is more suited for kids. Its only 5 feet at its deepest, and its shape does not allow for lap swimming. The workout center is nice and well maintained, and it suits my needs well. The business center and movie theater are nice to have, but I haven't really used them. If you're a socialite, the management is always hosting parties in clubhouse. Theres at least 1 party a month, often more, usually corresponding with a holiday. From what I've seen, the residents here are demographically diverse, not all college students that others would have you believe. There isn't even a major college in the area. I've seen everyone from elderly retirees down to people in their early 20's. I would say the largest group would be young couples in their 20's and 30's. I would say the best thing about this place is its location. The grocery store, Home Depot, Hollywood Video, and several restaurants are within easy walking distance, which is very convenient. This complex is definetly not perfect, but what place is' Other than a few minor annoyances, I'll be happy here until I buy a house.
