The Good and The Bad

I really like these apartment after you weight out the good and bad. I'll start with the bad and end on a good note here:

They could use a little more lighting, especially where you pick up the mail. I feel like someone could jump me at night when I'm checking my mail. Parking is a problem at night, in most parts of the complex. Also, beware if you get an apartment on the north side because there's a train that runs by blaring it's horn at the upcoming railroad crossing. However, I have one building between us and the tracks and it's not a problem at all. The walls and windows block most of the sound. You can't use the closet on your porch for storage, they keep it locked. I'm paying for that space, I would like to utilize it. If you have pets, you will want to consider another place because they really take advantage of your rent once you bring one in. You pay $25 extra/month on top of a refundable deposit AND and non-refund pet fee. My last gripe is with our carpet--when we moved in, we never noticed the cat pee smell, they must have masked it pretty well. Now, after a month of settling in, my nosehairs curl everytime I walk into the dining area from the ammonia smell. I've tried many odor-busters from the pet store, but it's so saturated into the carpet padding that I'm going to have to live with it. I examined the carpet at night with a blacklight, and there were more than 15 stains all over the living/dining room. I can't believe they didn't replace the carpet before we moved in.

The cat pee and pet fees irritate me the most and would really be the only reasons I would choose to move out to gain a fresh new start and regain some financial freedom. I like the tanning bed, although it's closed when the office is closed so I can't go but less than once a week. Their 24-hour fitness center is nice and you can workout to your favorite tv show. The apartments look beautiful and I feel good (except for the smell) living in my apartment. The floorplan is spacious and the kitchen is a dream for an apartment woman(microwave excluded). Lots of storage space for dishes and a pantry are included. They provide a washer and dryer so that'll save a bit.

In summary: I wouldn't recommend this place if you own a pet, they pull your teeth out in charges. Also, check your apartment thouroughly before moving in, make sure they're not skimping on a much needed carpet change. The apartments are gorgeous and friendly to live in. It's also in a very good location to stores, restaurants, and major streets.

Every apartment I have ever lived in charges additional monthly fees if you have a pet aka "pet rent" and all also charge a refundable deposit and a non refundable pet deposit. That is pretty standtard every where that will allow pets!

In the case of your apartment, the previous owner's pet rent is supposed to cover new carpeting. I am told that it is a law that they have to replace carpets after animals have been in a unit due to the potential health hazards (allergies, asthma). You may want to double check with the State Division of Housing to be sure. The main number for the State of Colorado is (303) 866-5000 and they can direct you to Housing from there. I would absolutely insist on them changing that carpet in your dining room. You should in no way have to be stuck with that. It is not only disgusting, but highly unsanitary and will cause illness if left -- if only when you are trying to eat dinner! Otherwise, thank you for your very helpful, well-written review. It is very objective and I appreciate that. Good luck with your carpet!

Note from the Author: A month or so after I wrote this review, they fixed the lighting at the mailboxes. Safety isn't an issue here anymore. By the way, we decided to resign our lease and stay here another year. I love this area and the close proximity to any store or restaurant you want. I am moving at the end of this lease just because I want to live closer to my job in Boulder.
