The Forest is Great but the Trees Kinda Suck

I've been living here for a little over a year and overall I really like our apartment. However, there's a lot of little things that get annoying if I think about it.
CONS:
-Security doors making moving groceries inside a hassle
-Hallways really need to be cleaned/vacuumed MUCH more often
-Some hallways have a funky smell
-Door to each unit slams shut
-Blinds break really easily
-Door handles leave big dents on the walk-in closet door if you're not careful
-Toilet clogs so often
-Bathroom sink clogs really easily (using Drain-o or Liquid Plummer made it worse once --apparently for anything we're supposed to call maintenance...)
-When we moved in some of the light switches and outlets didn't work
-Sometimes we can hear our neighbors fighting or blasting music
-Dog crap in the courtyards (however, they fail to replace the doggy poop bags when they run out. I had to steal a roll from the front and bring it to our courtyard)
-We always pay our rent and utilities on time but twice now they've claimed we didn't pay enough even though I always check and make sure that we do.
-Courtyard echoes people's conversations though you can't really understand them
-Our floor vinyl was peeled back and ended up ripping up due to use but the contractors did a pretty good job of replacing it
-Don't expect your toilet to be placed neatly against the wall
-Gas bill is ridiculous
-Utilities is charged from the first day you move in even though all utility bills are processed a couple months late
-Unless you strike a great deal like we did, it IS very expensive to live here
-Gym is lacking unless all you do are treadmills and ellipticals and maybe some arms on machines
-Clubhouse was being renovated for the better part of a year.
-Outdoor gates slam shut
-Pet deposit and pet rent are ridiculous
-A handful of popular breeds are not allowed
-The smell of curry drifts throughout certain sections
-If you cook something, chances are the smell of it will still be in your unit for hours
-Poor airflow
-Whoever designed the sprinkler system doesn't care about wasting water
-Drive into the complex area is extremely slippery when it snows
-Garbage chute area reeks
-A funky smell lingered in our unit for the first year we lived here despite Lysol and other cleaning products
-People are dumb and tend to clog the garbage chute with over sized bags even though they're instructed to take large bags downstairs
-Nice long trail of garbage stain in hallway leading to garbage chute
-Only one person could park in parking garage leaving it difficult to find spaces outside if you get in later
-Drivers tear around corners and down ramps in the garage
-Affirmative action needs to bring in some guys
-During the winter it takes like 2 hours to dry clothes on high heat
-Needs more groundskeepers
PROS:
-Spacious walk-in closet
-Walking distance to Safeway, Walgreens and Walmart
-Nearby various restaurants
-Nice pool and hot tub
-Good size layout for my boyfriend and I
-Allows animals
-Our unit faces south so we get plenty of sunshine
-I get to spy on my many neighbors (oh wait, that must mean they can see me in mine too!)
-Most neighbors are really nice
-New/newer appliances
-Giant garden tub (and we have an extra shower stall for some reason)
-Plenty of room if you're not in the smallest apartment
-Clean gym
-Nice trails around for walking your dog
-Nice courtyards for dogs to play in although they aren't even allowed off-leash in these areas where nobody goes to unless you have a dog
-Decent size balcony
-Very modern
-Parking gate usually broken so we could find some decent parking spaces until threats of a security camera came about
-Free cookies, coffee, cocoa, and tea in leasing office
-Community events though I don't think many people show up
-Random free breakfasts, actually I think there was only one
-Grill free to use at pool area
-Nice area to tan around pool
-If you live to the south of the pool, there's a nice courtyard with plants, otherwise it's just grass that's over watered and dead by August
-Washer/Dryer in unit

Thanks for your posting. I have a few question.
1. As per your comments, South facing seems to be getting plenty of sunshine. Do you know of if this direction "outward-facing Northwest " is good as well.
2. What is approx your "Deal" Amount.
3. Someone else was also complaining abt Gas Bills .. what am I looking at for a 2 Bedroom. Where is Gas being used to Heat ? are the Cooking Range on Gas as well and that is why it is High
4.Lastly how much you paying for conservice and what does that do.
