I came in 3 or 4 months before my lease was over to speak to the manager to tell him I was not renewing my lease and planned to move out by the time the lease was over. I was VERY CLEAR asking him if I needed to take care of anything, if I needed to do anything before the lease was over, I asked him many times to make sure. He told me there was nothing to do, that I was set.
So about 4 days before my lease was up I came in to give back the keys, and they told me there was a 60 day notice I had to sign. So now they are charging me just under $1500 for an empty apartment. So the manager lied to me to put me in this money trap.
Dont let them screw you over.

The thing here is to stay educated about rental policies. Im not saying that this is your fault, but you cant always rely on others, even for things that pertain to their job. Not everyone knows everything about their job and you have to protect yourself. I know you wont make this mistake again in the future at your next places of residence.
