I was a tennant at Rolling Hills for five years. Loved it there until the Management changed to this Bethany Group and whoever (there have been so many changes of hands in the past couple years). Before this change customer service was great, the office staff was superior, treated you like family. The buildings needed work, yes, maintenance was an issue, yes, and there were crazy people that rented there as well, yes. But truly, that can happen anywhere. The thing that really makes a difference in where you rent is how you are treated by the people that are supposed to be running the place. And sadly, this new company treats everyone like dirt.
I have to agree with the other posters that the lack of organization from the office is ridiculous. I've had to prove I paid my rent several times, even with bank statements and the office still wouldn't believe me, all because there was an error up front. The gas bills are set up so that each apartment is billed directly. They are shared bills for the building. So a single occupant pays the same as a family of three, which is a load of CRAP. They don't tell you this. But frankly, it is something you should ask and if you don't like it well, there are options. I think the worst things about this complex besides the paper thin walls (you can hear your neighbors go to the restroom) is the infestation problem and trash problem. In the five years I was there I had bug issues in each of the two apartments I rented. There were mouse issues in another one. And I was a clean tennant!
Sure, come to Castle Rock. It's a wonderful town. But don't rent at Rolling Hills unless you absolutely have to. The view might be great, but everything else sucks.
