I would not live here again

This is definitely not an apartment you want to raise your kids in. While living at Aspen Bluffs I had to call the police several times for parties, fights, drug use in the hall ways, yelling matches out front and loud music. Just about every night there it is extremely loud and the drug use at the apartment is out of control. When you walk into the building at night it is common to be approached by drug dealers or really rough people who look like gang members. It is common to hear arguing and cursing. It is common to see police out front and for a long time there was security but for the most part they have done away with that as well. The rates on the washroom have gone up, so many can't afford to wash their clothes there. The steps leading upstairs for months where broken and actually moved when you stepped on them. The parking lot and hallways are regularly trashed and dirty. It is common to smell urine in the hallways. The office sign reads that it is open from 10-2 but no-one is ever there during those times. The pool was closed over a month and is rarely open because they say the chemicals are off. The pool and laundry are open every night even though the hours are posted, which to me is a safety hazard. It is common for people to drink alcohol or use drugs in the hallways and out in front of the building. When you want to get ahold of management it is next to impossible. Many people living in the apartment don't clean so when they open their doors you either smell pot or a stinch as though someone has pooped on their floors. When you get ahold of management they are rude and mean probably because they are used to dealing with all the losers in the apartment. In the past month they have painted the pool, put some plants around the building and shampood the halways, but these are the first improvments in a long time (I am guessing that they are doing this so they can raise the rent). They claim to have an exercise room, but there is not one. Outside the apartment in the "picnic" area it is trashed and there are often broken beer bottles which are rarely cleaned up (once a month maybe). If something is broken in your apartment then forget about ever getting it fixed. When you call management it takes a long time for them to get back to you and most of the time they never get back to you. They post notices on your door so if you are out of town the notices stay there letting everyone know you are gone (I am suprised I was never robbed). I guess that is one positive is that I never was robbed, but only vandalized. The doors to the apartments have very week security locks and could easily be kicked in. One plus is that the apartment is 850 square feet. hmmm what else.... The apartment is located near academy so it is loud. The windows are paper thin and have broken locks which makes it very cold during the winter and the broken locks are definitely a safety concern. You have assigned parking and there is a sign that says cars will be towed if you park in assigned parking, but you can count on not having your spot and the cars will never be towed. The biggest complaint I have about this place however is that it is managed extremely poor and management for the most part is non-existant. Without someone managing this place properly it seems to be getting even worse. The rent being $500 a month is not really that great considering everything I mentioned above and I am positive I have left a lot of stuff out (These are just some of the things that come to mind). If it were not for my situation I would definitely not have lived in the aspen bluff apartments. If you choose to live there then I only have to tell you one more thing.... GOOD LUCK!
