This place made us sick!

We rented an ("upgraded") apartment from Briarglen for one week. We spent three nights there. My husband and I both have asthma and allergies and it caused my poor husband to have to go to the doctor to help get his asthma back under control! It was so smokey and stinky!! I think the complex knew there was a problem because the day we moved in, there was a strong smell of Pine-Sol cleaner! We aired it out while we moved our things in only to discover the smokey, cigerette smell that permeated the dry wall, just like a crappy, cheap motel! Cigerette smoke also came in through the vents. Not only that, but there was mold in the bathroom (see picture), a laundry door off of the hinge sitting in our kitchen, the master bedroom door could not close b/c it was so damaged, no screens on the windows or a screen door for our patio, and there was a toilet leak with water on the bathroom floor! Clearly, the apartment was not move in ready. I can't believe they called this an upgraded apartment! My gosh, I'd hate to see the "normal" ones. The apartment looked NOTHING like the model! NOTHING! The walls were paper thin and I mean PAPER thin! On one side (master bedroom) we had a continous playlist of techno music playing morning and night (we could even sing a long b/c it was so loud and clear!). In the other bedroom, where my mom stayed, the people above her were having a very heated argument... with very colorful language... which you can hear every word of. Actually we heard LOTS of arguing! Just walking from the parking lot to the apartment, it seems all we heard were couples fighting! Strange. We complained to the office about how sick it made us and they let us out of our lease "as a gesture toward us" (how kind!)The best part of Briarglen were that the staff was willing to listen to us and the company let us out of our contract. We should be getting our deposit back within 60 days-- they were very fast to cash our deposit check the day after we complained, wish we could get our money back just as fast. So, we hired some movers (b/c we couldn't ask our friends to come help us move again-- out of $650 for that!) and as they were coming back from Briarglen, told us that "You guys have some colorful neighbors over there". I said "yeah, it does seem that way!" and they replied that our techno loving upstairs neighbor pulled a picture out of himself dressed as a woman and asked them "Do you think I look sexy as a woman'" Geez. They said that all of this guy's male friends came over and were dancing around the moving truck and around them. Our poor movers were sexually harrassed! I felt so bad for them and tipped them extra! I can't stress enough how awful this place was. The management told us that we would never find a "deal like this again". That is for sure! Not the kind of deal we wanted. Now were are in a beautiful, CLEAN and quiet apartment and we are so much happier! Renter Beware... Especially of Building G!
