Horrid place to live!

I spent only a few hours in Colorado Springs finding a cheap location to move to for a job opportunity. This location seemed close to work and the show apartment that I initially saw was up-to-date and clean. I did find it odd that the staff refused to show me the apartment I was to sign for until AFTER I had signed the paperwork. That should have been the first sign! The day I moved it was a mess. The place wasn't clean, it was old, and the carpet looked like it hadn't been touched since the obviously dirty tenant prior to me moved.

The noice wasn't good but that wasn't nearly the nightmare that came with having to deal with cochroaches, disgusting neighbors, and a constant fear of someone stealing anything that wasn't bolted down.

The staff was THE worst! They were rude, uncaring, and when I moved, actually sent their management after me to reclaim $523 in missing rent when I repeatedly sent them a final receipt that they justified as a $523 power bill! My lawyer was initially told that it would just be easier for me to pay it and their management company requested my LAWYER to "please stop calling. We don't have time to deal with this". Needless to say they ended up having time.

Well like you said you should have not signed the paperwork without seeing the apartment, so thats on you. It is unfortunate however that you had to deal with cockroaches etc. Hope you learned something from your experience.

Toeloopy24, it is illegal in the state of Colorado to "show" an apartment to a tenant you do not plan on renting. What anyone learns from an experience like this is to be more cautious, what a pointless comment you made.
