During my residence here, I transferred apartments. I spent DAYS cleaning the first apartment and thought I was cleared of any charges, as I'd left the apartment WORLDS cleaner than when I'd arrived, and I'd moved into the new apartment and heard nothing. About two months later I received a notice on my door that I owed the office almost $400. There was no explanation for these charges, so I took the notice to the office to inquire. I was told I had to repay the deposit immediately, as it had been entirely used to clean the first apartment. I was never given an accounting of the charges, only told I had to pay or be evicted. There were no walk-throughs, the management seems to have a habit of marking everything "good" on the move-in form without looking. You have to sign this form if you want your keys. They severely downplay any deficiencies at move in, then gig you for every chip of paint on move out. I suggest you take video and/or pictures of your move-in and move out, and have impartial witnesses there, to avoid deposit return issues. Know your renter's rights...I didn't until it was too late.

After I moved out of the second apartment, I never heard a single word from this apartment building as to my deposit, and never received a penny of it back. This is a violation of my renter's rights, as no landlord is allowed to keep a deposit and never explain why. The statutes explain clearly the landlord's responsibility, and it is their burden to provide proof and accounting for the deposit in a specific manner and timeframe. This brings to mind another review here, which I agree with, which stated that if you choose to live here and want your deposit back--be prepared to go to court.

This and the prior complaint referred to seem somewhat doubtful inasmuch as the obvious remdy of judicial resolution as mentioned, was apparently not pursued, probably due to any lack of merit. So they have simply availed themselves of a one sided vent to "get even" when they didn't get their way - because they're so special and the rules don't apply to them I guess? If they did go to court what was the result? Nothing but badmouth talk.

If it walks like a duck and qucks like a duck, IT'S A DUCK. Obviously we can't all be wrong Katty Talk! There are serious problems with this place. Just because a tenant does no sue in court does not mean that the suit lacks merit, nor does it invalidate their HORRIFIC experience at The Meadows. You're so defensive that I believe you probably work in management. The truth is, people are being scammed for their deposits.

I'm wondering how covert operator, "007_tenant" knows so much? The truth is that it's easy to spread slanderous statements on this Web site with impugnity under cover of anonynity. And self serving conclusions of "Truth" as are referred to are meaningless without proof. There is an easy and inexpensive access to court mediation for these types of tenant disputes and its cowardly not to pursue the available remedy but instead make vile accusations from the safety of the internet. I remember an old Cary Cooper movie, where he played a Quaker, which included a role played by a trained Eagle that involved its imitating a goose! It should have won an Oscar! I think the name of the movie was "Friendly Persuaion". So just maybe the so called proof of the pudding "Duck" that 007 is talking about is only a decoy conjured up by this tenant's complaint? Or perhaps 007 is the same person who posted this complaint? And who is "we" anyway? And just what is so HORRIFIC? "007" is apparently given to hyperbole and Sounds very much like a drama queen to boot. Someone is given to malicious mischief from the looks of this message. It deserves no credibility and has none with me.

In response to the "Kats", the management at this place is so slick that they dodge receipt of any registered letters, and service of summons sent to them in the course of pursuing a "judicious" resolution. They refuse to list an Agent of their company who actually works at the apartment complex's address, with the Secretary of State of Colorado, making it almost impossible to serve the correct person with court documents. And besides that, a court would not need to be involved if the Meadows was obeying the law. It's not about the rules not applying to me, I made it clear that I followed the policies of my contract. I'm not the one trying to avoid being held accountable to the law by refusing to accept phone calls or registered mail sent in an effort to resolve the issue. And to answer the argument that it's "inexpensive" for a tenant to go to court--guess what? It's free for the Meadows to answer the phone or open a piece of mail, too. Why should I have to pay about $50 to fill out a piece of paper with the court, then another $50 to try to have the Meadows served, simply because they refuse to speak to me and give me the information that they are legally required to provide me with in the first place? It's obvious to me that KattyTalk and KatsmeowWow simply want to slander anyone who complains about the Meadows Apartments. I honestly have no idea who 007_tenant is, except that he seems to be an individual who's also had bad experiences with the Meadows, and is sympathizing with others in the same situation. And it also seems to me that 007_tenant probably hit it right on the nose with comment about the "Kats" working for the management of this apartment complex. And the accusation that I'm simply complaining under the guise of anonymity is the pot calling the kettle black--you want to know who I am, yet you hide your own identity. It would be stupid for any complaining tenant to list their real name, because the Meadows would simply file a legal complaint to initiate action against that person out of retaliation. I'd like to know why the "Kats" feel such a loyalty to the Meadows...the only logical conclusion is that there is vested interest in this defense, which certainly makes their comments worthless to anyone wanting an unbiased opinion before making a choice to reside in this apartment community. I will reiterate my warning: Buyer Beware.

I was browsing this property after visiting it and after meeting the manager, who has apparently been there for years, and I find this last commentary, which apparently is a running commentary by this person who calls herself "depositless" must have been written by a crackpot. The property is beautiful and the manager I met is a lady of obvious high character and extremely knowledgable, polite and helpful. And, from my observation, highly popular and appreciated by the tenants that filed through while I was there. This chronic, one note complainer, who is given to extreme verbosity (given the 26 lines of her latest comments), is a liar to boot: The law requires that an agent for service of legal process be listed with the state and available to accept service of any summons she pretends she has unsuccessfully served. If not she should report it to the proper authorities rather than liter her crap on this Web site. Her irreconcilable contradictions are that if she did serve anyone she would thereby identify herself, which she has stated she is loathed to do; and, further, she hates this place because she lost her deposit the first time around, and yet, she has returned to live here! There must be something not only good, but forgiving, by management to accept her back. I plan to live here and I sure hope she doesn't turn out to be my neighbor - I will first check with the manager because she probably knows who she is, despite her attempt to remain anonymous.
