I dont even know where to begin with this place. My husband and i lived here about 4 years ago. We were new to colorado springs, newly married, young, and expected. we came across these apartments and thought we were getting a rare deal. large and cheap. wow were we wrong. The day we moved in i went to pick up dinner and came back home to find a man passed out in the road. 2 of the people who lived in the apt below us carried him and left him in the rocks outside their patio. i called my husband from the car, and he came down and escorted me upstairs (i was scared) we waited to see what would happen to the guy, and finally called 911. an ambulance came and they worked on him a bit before transfering him to the hospital. my husband asked the paramedic if he would be ok, and the guy said he wasnt sure. he was WAYYYY over his limit for alcohol. that should ahve been our first sign...
First off when we moved in they did not tell us they spray monthly for roaches, and being pregnant i would have to leave the building each time. The first time we got a notice on our door saying they would be in the following day to spray, and that all pregnancy women and infants should vacate the apartment, as well as items for an infant. Because we had no idea they skipped our apartment, so where did all the roaches go' Our place. it was DISGUSTING! We had to sleep with all the lights on in our bedroom, hallway and bathroom. otherwise when i got up in the middle of the night and turned on the light they were covering the toilet, walls, etc. If you can get passed the roaches and other bugs the place is infested with, then you have to deal with the fact that nothing works in the apt, and their idea of "fixing it" was to put a bandaid over it rather than actually fixing the problem (we were told this by one of their maintenance people). Our air conditioner (wall unit in the living room) never seemed to work right, and after numerous complaints they came out and "fixed it" it still never worked although they said it did so we finally gave up on it. After moving out they tried to charge us for the broken a/c. The apts have old floorboard heaters in the bedrooms and living room. The living room one would constantly short out, and cause us to lose power to the entire apartment. The first time this happened it took them 45 minutes to come and turn the power on. the second time it was 9 1/2 hours. WE had to leave the apartment because we are sitting in a cold, dark apartment in the middle of october. after that time my husband went with them and they showed him how to turn the breaker back on so from then on we fixed it ourself. The bathtub in the apartment had a leak, and rather than fixing it they just came into our apartment every other week or so to fix the roof above our bathtub. i am suprised the bathtub never came crashing through on us. The tenants here are mainly hispanic. i am in no way trying to be racist. but the apt below us had 9 people in a 2 bedroom. Nights and weekends were a joke, they all stood outside, with their music blasting, drinking beers. getting them to respect the noise level was a joke. Someone tried to get into our apartment on 3 seperate occasions. All 3 times i was home alone, pregnant on bed rest. it was terrifying. A few weeks before we finally moved out (we only lived there 3 mos) we had the police show up at our door one morning asking if we had heard gun shots the night before. I had but since it is a common occurance there i didnt think anything of it. Well someone was shot in the building on the 3rd floor, the body was drug through the building and dumped in the trash. Worst part is, the apartment maintenance was sent in to clean up the blood BEFORE the police got there to investigate. luckily they didnt do the greatest job, in fact when we moved out there was still blood on the stairs.
WE thought our troubles were gone when we broke our lease and moved out. WOw were we wrong. Since we broke our lease they obvioulsy took us to court for what we "owed" them. We went to court 9x's. we had pictures of the unliveable conditions. at the time the gazette was doing a 6 week spread on all the apartments owned by Terry Regan (this being one of them). When the apartments coulding provide proof that we signed a statement prior to moving in sayin we knew they sprayed for bugs we won the case. There reasoning as to why we were not told this, was that the lady who did our lease was new and didnt know any better so it was not our problem. WE finally won after 9 court appearances and thought all was done. now 3 years later they have started garnishing my husbands wages. they say we owe about 4 grand. we are currently fighting this, but in the mean time they are taking 2/3s of his paycheck.
I hope you dont think i am writing this negetive review because of that. I really want people to know how bad this place is. Especially if you have kids you do not want to live here. its a horrible place, its not safe, it should be comdemned.
