I have lived in these apartments for years, but it seems recently more and more sketchy people have been moving in. There seems to be a surplus of young drug dealers/gangsters. I don't know why the manager lets them move in here. It's a great thing that they give young people a chance at having a decent place to live, and most of them are quite responsible. This is a wonderful neighborhood, but the quality of the most recent neighbors leave a lot to be desired. Another thing, you can hear everything. One might say that's just apartment living, but it's still awful. The buildings are quite old, and need serious updating, there is much you will sacrifice. It's great here if your neighbors are good people and are considerate of other people. The winters are a little rough because the windows don't maintain the heat, and the summers are a bit insuferable because these apartments have but one ceiling fan, and circulation in the one bedrooms are poor. I had made a noise complaint once which prompted the landlady to come visit me to talk about it, and upon her leaving I heard her talking disrespectfully about me outside to her co-worker, though she pretended to somewhat side with me in our conversation.
All in all, I love the area, but like I said, the quality of the people in these buildings varies.
The outside seems to be well kept, but like I said, the buildings need updating, and that is most important.
Also, in my opinion, I think the rent is too high considering the quality of the living space. And it seems it keeps continuing to rise.
Whether or not I would reccomend this location to a friend, I don't know anymore. I know I have in the past because I liked it before my current neighbors, but at this point, I just don't think I would.
