Where to start' I finally moved out of the apartment complex after 4 years. They have changed more owners than parents changing an infants diapers! Lets start with the good aspects. Location is nice. That is it for the good aspects, now on to the bad.

Maintenance:

Besides the fact "The Retreat" was dubbed the "worst construction in Colorado Springs" when built, it got worse!!! It took weeks to get anything fixed. I had to cut out drywall myself to remove mold. They finally fixed that after I told them there was a hole in the bathroom ceiling.

Water damge due to leaky roof. Never repaired the peeling paint on the ceiling. Even after 8 months and dozens of calls.

A dead animal got into the crawl space. Apartment smelled horrible for two weeks before they took care of the problem.

Lighting: If you are a single female, bring mace. No external lighting or security, even though it's a "gated" community. Dominoe's pizza delivery guy assaulted in front of my apt. Finally put in breezeway lights that were out, however told me it wasn't in their best interest to get security despite car break in's etc.

Grass areas are like a swamp in the summer. Over water then charge the residents for the excess. Nice!

Garbage everywhere on trash days.

Management: Terrible! All they care about is your money. They couldn't spell my name right, nor get my apartment number right when sending me "important" information. Even after 4 years. Renewal terms are horrible, and they will jack your rent up each and every time. They are nasty, rude, and could care less about you...They have the education and business sense of a 3rd grader, and that's being generous!

I could go on forever, however, I think you get the message. I stayed for 4 years because the previous management/owners were good. The new owners have no business running an apartment complex. There are many more places much better, and this is not one. Retreat, HA, more like "The Ghetto at Cheyenne Mountain".

"Grass areas are like a swamp in the summer. Over water then charge the residents for the excess. Nice!" I completely agree. I believe they are charging residents to water the grass & fill up the pool & this has to be illegal. Please email me at csmilitaryrentersrights@yahoo.com & tell me all your horror stories. Thanks.

The palce is a dump. Only people who like to live in slums like it here. Don't let the outward appearence fool you. Rent elsewhere, especially if you are military
