The maintenance guys are cool...but unfortunately suck! I hate to say this because I actually liked them as people but they never show up in a timely fashion and I always had to call back once or twice to get anything done. And because I don't like to bother folks, I would patiently wait 1 or 2 months and no one would ever show up.

The staff changes rather quickly. Every couple of months there's a new name and face. Believe it or not, this says a lot about these apartments. Either the women they hire don't like it there and quit or they fire people quickly. Whichever, it reminds me of a telemarketing call center where they have high turnovers which again is not good when there are only like 3 or 4 ladies (never any guys in the office) on staff.

One of the major issues I had living there is the amount of water they WASTE on the property during the summer/fall months. It is utterly ridiculous!!! I don't think they go by any rules but why should they when the tenants are footing the bill. The sprinklers still come on when it rains...RIDICULOUS! And the sprinklers watered my dining room window and car more than it did the grass. I didn't bother to bring it to their attention because I knew nothing would be done.

My utility bill with them monthly, during the summer was anywhere from $60-$80 a month, RIDICULOUS!!! That had nothing to do with my Colorado Springs utility bill which was about the same amount and I'm a cold person so I hardly ever used my air conditioning...if ever. $150 a month in the summer!!! Oh! and they divide the utilities up by the number of people in your home. So boggus!

During the winter months are worse. They only have single pane windows so all of your heat goes right out of the windows. Or maybe all of the cold comes in. With the apratment's utilities and my personal utility bill, I paid around $250 a month...give or take $10 or $20 bucks! Honestly, you could get a 2000 sq ft home and pay the same amount for utilities. So, once again that is utterly ridiculous for an apartment.

The carports are an extra 30 bucks a month but people will constantly park in your space including employees who live on the property with no repercussions. No one ever gets towed. All you can do is put a dumb piece of paper on their windshields warning them that it's not their carport (like they don't already no that). And yes, you have to find another space until they decide to leave which is normally late at night or the next day and they or someone else will continue to park there.

On a good note, I really loved the design of the apartment. I loved the garden tubs as well. I loved the space and design of the kitchen (really nice for an apartment). I loved the fact that I could go to the gym at anytime as well but that unfortunately, was about it.

Sorry Ladies...Redefining Excellence is not what you all do. And that is really, really, really sad.

I'm now living at The Estates at Cheyenne Blvd...just down the street. They are old...built in the fifties I believe but the apartments are large & remodeled, the neighbors are kind and friendly and the rent is $340 less than what I paid at the Retreat. They also come with a carport and a 5X7 or so storage room which was a bonus for me.

Good luck in your search for a nice home but don't expect the Retreat to be a cut above just because they are close to the Broadmoor.

Why did you give such a high review. Theonly thing you like are the girls in the office and they do nothing to promote a better quality of life for the people that pay the sky high rent here - they are SALES people and they obviously got you hook line and sinker. They figure if they are polite you will forget about what a horribleplace this is to rent. Heck you can make a mortgage payment for what some of these go for. Military beware there is no deployment clause" if you get deployed and your family wants to go home (another sate)while you are deployed they will not let you out of your lease - support the troops hugh. Also it will GO UP $100 EACH TIME YOUR LEASE EXPIRES

ilikeithere08_09, your review sounds like someone who might work for the office or be a friend. with a username like ilikeithere08_09, I wonder did you sign up just to give a positive review on this place or are you really a renter?

They do have a deployment clause. I just activated it myself- all you need is a copy of the orders and 30 days notice.

Ugh...I guess I can respect your opinion, but I certainly don't agree with it. How can anyone say the girls in the office are nice? Rude and snotty is more like it...and don't get me started on the excuse for a maintence crew. Terrible!

Oh, and yes I was a real renter and yes, I did like the staff. They were always friendly and very polite to me but never redefined excellence in other ways while I was there.
