Incident Date October 23, 2006 Time 12:20:00 PM Division Stetson Hills Shift I
Title Assault Location 1264 Potter Dr.
Summary On 10-23-06, at 1221 hours, Officers were dispatched to the Rustic Hills Park Apartments located at 1264 Potter Dr. to investigate a Shots Fired call for service. Upon arrival, Officers contacted the victim who stated a male shot several rounds at her and two other individuals. A witness described the handgun as a 9mm semi automatic. None of the individuals present were injured. Two vehicles parked in the parking lot were struck by the rounds fired.

After firing the shots the suspect fled the area on foot. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was located at nearby apartment complex. He was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into CJC.

Due to the proximity of the incident Mitchell H.S. initiated a school lockdown as a precaution for approximately 39 minutes.

Incident Date October 22, 2006 Time 10:54:00 PM Division Gold Hill Shift II
Title Traffic Crash Location I-25 Southbound over Cimarron (MM141)
Summary CSPD was notified of an injury Traffic Crash in the southbound lanes. On arrival, officers found that a single vehicle was involved in the crash. The three occupants of the vehicle had to be extricated by CSFD personnel due to damage sustained to the vehicle when it collided with the barrier and rolled over. All three were transported to a local hospital. Both passengers were treated and released for minor injuries. The driver was treated for head injuries.

The investigation showed that the driver lost control of the vehicle while in the southbound left lane and struck the concrete barrier in the center median. The vehicle then rolled over one time coming to rest on its wheels against the right side barrier.

The driver was arrested for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and Careless Driving.

Both lanes of southbound I-25 were closed for forty minutes while the occupants of the vehicle were extricated. The right lane was closed for an additional thirty minutes while the vehicle was removed.

Title Robbery Location 3402 Sinton Road
Summary A male entered the Budget Host Inn at 3402 Sinton Road and demanded money from the on-duty clerk. Although no weapon was seen, the male acted as if he did have a weapon in his pocket. The male was described as a 20 year old black male, 5 ft 6 inches, medium build, wearing silver sunglasses, white hat covering what appeared to be a curly black wig. The area was searched extensively by K-9 and patrol officers, with negative results. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. Investigation continuing.

Summary Officers responded to the area of the Pikes Peak Workforce office at 2306 E. Pikes Peak Avenue in reference to a reported stabbing. The victim had called a friend who in turn called CSPD. The victim, a 37 year old male, was found in the intersection of E. Pikes Peak Avenue and Printers Parkway. He had suffered one stab wound to the chest and a puncture wound to the upper left chest. The victim told the investigating officer that he had been walking alone in the area of Bijou Street and Iowa Avenue when he was approached by a Hispanic male who asked for a cigarette. When the victim said he had no cigarettes the Hispanic male stabbed the victim and then fled. The victim was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment. He is listed in stable condition. No suspect information was provided.

Summary Officers were dispatched to 8025 N Union, Ford Frick Park regarding an assault in progress. The suspect a WM, in his 20??s 5-6 to 5-10, heavy set with brown hair and a beard was wearing a blue jersey and khaki pants and a baseball cap. The suspect at two separate locations walked up to two different victims and groped them on their buttocks. The suspect had a piece of concrete in his hand at the time leaving the victims feeling that he was going to assault them with it. In both cases, the victims were able to get away from the suspect before he assaulted them further. Officers observed the suspect walking in the area of 7900 Belford Dr. The suspect was taken into custody he was identified as Kyle Lee Garza, DOB 02/27/80.

Title Arrest Location 484 North Murray Blvd.
Summary On 10-19-06 at approx. 6:20 pm, Lt. Harmon from the El Paso County Sheriffs Office observed a green Chevy Tahoe, at 484 N. Murray Blvd. that matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen earlier during the week during a burglary at 3715 E. Platte Ave.
Lt. Harmon contacted the driver, identified as Shelley Atencio, 30 year old female, who was detained. Officers Mork and Gulbrandson who are assigned to the Sand Creek Repeat Offender program responded and completed an interview with Ms. Atencio. Ms. Atencio provided the location of a male suspect involved in the burglary. Officers responded to 1834 Grant Ave. and arrested Daryl Douglas, 37 year old white male, hiding in a kitchen cabinet. Mr. Douglas was wanted on numerous warrants.
During a search of the residence officers recovered a stolen motorcycle, 2 stolen trailers and an additional vehicle which was stolen during the burglary.

Summary On 10/19/2006 at 9:13 AM, CSPD Sand Creek Division patrol officers were dispatched to a robbery call for service at the TCF Bank at 3175 E. Platte Avenue. Members of the CSPD Robbery Unit and the FBI responded to assist. Officers were advised that a suspect entered the bank and demanded money but did not display a weapon. The suspect fled a short time later on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and was not located as of yet. The suspect is described as a black male, 35 years of age, 5??10??, with a medium build, wearing a black baseball cap with white writing, a knit mask, prescription glasses, denim winter jacket, and dark pants. Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department Robbery Unit at 667-2786 or you can remain anonymous and could earn a cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP (634-7867).

Title Traffic Crash - Fatality Location 890 N. Newport Rd.
Summary On 10/18/06 at approximately 8:55am a semi (tactor/trailer) started to roll in a westerly direction from the loading dock at 890 N. Newport Rd. (Taylor Farms Distribution). The driver, who was not in the truck attempted to re enter the cab, when he slipped and fell. The truck continued in a westerly direction running the victim over. The victim was deceased at the scene with massive head trauma. The victim drove for Glennco, Produce Distributing, Pueblo. The victim resided in Rocky Ford. The victim has been identified as Jimmie Lee Spencer 64yrs. old. The next of kin was notified at approx. 3pm 10/18/06.

Summary On 10/14/06, Johnathon Klinker was arrested for Felony Child Abuse in connection with the life- threatening injuries sustained by his seven-week- old daughter. On 10/17/06 at 2115 hours, the infant passed away. The Colorado Springs Police Department is continuing the investigation and the case is being reviewed by the District Attorney??s Office.
